No. I wouldn't use one of those "telescopic" rods. To fit in luggage, you'll need a 3 or 4 piece rod and the rod will bend really strangely with the connectors being stiffer. You're better off just buying a cheap fiberglass rod from Walmart at your destination.

If it's just casual fishing for light stuff, look into Daiwa's telescopic rods.

1/2 price ain't bad for this, but it's a bit small for surf fishing. I prefer a 10' with a 6000 reel for striper. I have one and it works well, But this will work for smaller stuff!

Amazing deal. Love this reel.. handles everything thrown at it. I prefer to pair it with medium heavy ugly stick to tolerate abuse but the Penn rod is sufficient. This can easily land your carp catfish sturgeon or if you are lucky enough to be fishing at the ocean will handle Goliath Groupers and sharks of any size if you pair with 50-100 lb braided. No time to research, buy before they are all out. Seriously.

Yes, just rinse it off with freshwater from the hose when done for the day to wash the salt off

UPDATE: Ordered and received 2. One was broke. Easy return. So, I ordered 2 more. Nice rod and especially reel. Loaded with 30lb (max) braid. Berkley baits alone are about $6 each. I currently use these reels.

But, at this price how can I pass them up! In for 2 more. Thanks OP.
