I've had a unit like this for the past 12 years. The big positive, is being able to put a load in to wash and dry before leaving for work (or going to sleep) and having it done by the time I'm back. The negative - it takes 3-5 hours for a load to go through wash and dry. I dont recall this ever being an issue for me, as we dont typically have anything that needs to be washed and dried quickly - but thats something to keep in mind when considering this machine

Do you have a unit with an actual heat pump? Lg and other brands have sold other models that don't use heat pumps. They use a cooling plate powered by water which causes it to take much longer to dry. I have one of those units as well, and i agree its not for everyone cause if you need something dried fast or just cleaned fast its just not going to happen. But the heat pump based units are much faster (wash and dry in 2-3 hours). Slightly slower than a traditional drier . But pretty darn close in my opinion and no need to move the close saves you some time as well(unless you need to take things out of the drier to air dry). The other big change that takes people a bit to get used to that all ventless units have is that they build up humidity in the machine. When you open it up once the cloths is done the cloths will almost feel a bit moist. This is just cause the air in the chamber is a bit humid. But it does confuse people the first time around.

Overall, all-in-one units are amazing in their convenience and efficiency, but they introduce some new quirks that you do need to get used to. I personally don't think i can ever go back to any other type of unit.

I have been using the GE Profile all in one for the last couple of months and it takes about 2 hours for a full load. These newer models use heat pumps to generate hot air. Older models of all in ones used a different technology. Check and see what yours is. May explain why it takes so long.

I love these heat pump washer dryer deals but why are folks so fired up about this deal? I tried 2 different employer email addresses and seemingly neither are LG partners? Are there tons of folks that happen to work for LG partner businesses ?

What are going to do if you only have a dryer and no washer working.
One can always handwash or take it to the laundramat for just the washing cycle. If the washer works but dryer doesn't, just air dry.

But realistically, the "benefit" of having two separate machines is speed (you can do some things in parallel), and if one does break, you're out $600-$1000, instead of the all-in-one unit at $2000.

I might snag a unit like this when they hit ~$1500, but I've been burned my Samsung's AirDresser where it kinda works similarly (cleans, steams, dries), but the condenser failed a month out of warranty and can no longer dry. Even paid Samsung to look at the unit and they're like "computer says nothing is broken, good luck". I'm waiting for these units to...mature a bit, lol.

I have the slightly larger version of this model and it is farking incredible. Being able to put in clothes before bed and wake up to clean/dry/not wrinkled laundry is amazing. I'll never go back to two units. And it is ventless and you can plug it in anywhere. 10/10 would buy again. Plus cheaper to run. Win-win.
What model are you referencing? I haven't found any washer dryer combo heat pump units larger than this 5.0 but I would love there to be one!

I was hoping Costco would have this unit in time for their recent November sale but they did not. Ended up choosing the nicer LG 5.0 Washtower for a couple hundy cheaper than this deal. Chose it over the GE Profile combo which was +$500 but that wasn't deciding factor. Can't tell you how often we need an emergency uniform or whatever wash and the washtower does a 15 minute cycle pretty good. And a load goes in every 30 minutes or so when pushing through a big pile.

Wouldn't mind having one of each eventually here, and I think this LG combo will be more in my price range come supersale time than the GE. But GE has a good 5 year warranty if you buy through them (if Costco not an option). Can't tell if the LG warranty is 1+1app+ buy 2 more years or it only 3 total or what. Anyways I would think a combo washer with AI etc would be the #1 item I would splurge for the ext warranty. And the energy savings are huge on these.

Also, have they addressed the lint issue better vs. their 4.5 combo? That seems to be where the GE shines with the dryer like pull out.

I'm still in the return period with the washtower, but honestly I don't know if I would want to return it for a single single combo. Looks like fast won over energy efficiency this time for me.
Lint issue is resolved on the 5.0. It has an ezlintfilter on the top of the unit

Bah. Aside from separating loads for wash/dry temp and color fastness, I usually throw all clothes together and set the dryer for mixed loads and get good results.

I have a natural gas dryer unit so the savings probably isn't going to add up as quickly if I switch to this unit. Thank you for the info though.
May not make sense if your current washer dryer is still working well. You will lose money overall. If you are about to replace your washer and dryer anyways, may make sense.

If dryer or washer function decided to stop working, you're F***ed out of $1700. Such a genius design.
I have a similar lg signature model LUWM101HWA that cost over 3k. It has all the bells and whistles that you can think of.

It broke soon after installed. Lg replaced it with a new one and the new one broke again right after the warranty. Luckily I got it from Costco and it's an LG "signature" product, between the 2 of them they were able to let me refund and rebuy a new one.

The new one door opener module also broke after 1 year. I now have to use a pry bar to open the door

In all cases, lg had attempted to fix it. The problem is there are so much tech in units like these, not anyone knows how to troubleshoot let alone fix the issue. My tenants went weeks without a working unit

To be fair, they love it so much that when I offered to buy a replacement they insisted on waiting for lg to fix it.

Just want to let you know you should consider an extended warranty if you are going to invest into something like this

They must calculate capacities differently in Canada. The 5.0 cu. ft. 300hbx washtower that I bought is called a 5.8 cu. ft there. Just an example. didn't find this unit or the Ge Profile combo unit on their website

Half the comments are clueless people equating this to old style combos when this is HEAT PUMP drying and entirely different. Literally says HEAT PUMP in the original post. Brand new technology in this type of application at least and competitor to the GE Profile. It just boggles the mind how people like to waste other's time.

small price to pay for not having to spend the time switching over laundry or forgetting to switch it over and having to restart. Or being able to start at night and have it done in the morning. Plus not having to deal with having vents cleaned. I've got the older model and it's awesome.
