Overall, all-in-one units are amazing in their convenience and efficiency, but they introduce some new quirks that you do need to get used to. I personally don't think i can ever go back to any other type of unit.

But realistically, the "benefit" of having two separate machines is speed (you can do some things in parallel), and if one does break, you're out $600-$1000, instead of the all-in-one unit at $2000.
I might snag a unit like this when they hit ~$1500, but I've been burned my Samsung's AirDresser where it kinda works similarly (cleans, steams, dries), but the condenser failed a month out of warranty and can no longer dry. Even paid Samsung to look at the unit and they're like "computer says nothing is broken, good luck". I'm waiting for these units to...mature a bit, lol.
Wouldn't mind having one of each eventually here, and I think this LG combo will be more in my price range come supersale time than the GE. But GE has a good 5 year warranty if you buy through them (if Costco not an option). Can't tell if the LG warranty is 1+1app+ buy 2 more years or it only 3 total or what. Anyways I would think a combo washer with AI etc would be the #1 item I would splurge for the ext warranty. And the energy savings are huge on these.
Also, have they addressed the lint issue better vs. their 4.5 combo? That seems to be where the GE shines with the dryer like pull out.
I'm still in the return period with the washtower, but honestly I don't know if I would want to return it for a single single combo. Looks like fast won over energy efficiency this time for me.

I have a natural gas dryer unit so the savings probably isn't going to add up as quickly if I switch to this unit. Thank you for the info though.

It broke soon after installed. Lg replaced it with a new one and the new one broke again right after the warranty. Luckily I got it from Costco and it's an LG "signature" product, between the 2 of them they were able to let me refund and rebuy a new one.
The new one door opener module also broke after 1 year. I now have to use a pry bar to open the door
In all cases, lg had attempted to fix it. The problem is there are so much tech in units like these, not anyone knows how to troubleshoot let alone fix the issue. My tenants went weeks without a working unit
To be fair, they love it so much that when I offered to buy a replacement they insisted on waiting for lg to fix it.
Just want to let you know you should consider an extended warranty if you are going to invest into something like this
