For clarity - the proper name for this holiday is Lunar New Year, as this is not only celebrated by us Chinese - but also by other Asian countries that are not Chinese (e.g., Korean, Vietnamese, and others).

That's still way too much for essentially a DOTS set of parts. Didn't LEGO learn anything from that failed line of sets? Why would anyone buy this set versus the others from the same theme? The other medium to large sets are way better looking and most of them include a decent amount of minifigs. There's a dragon, a parade, temple, traditions is even more interesting and includes minifigs. The lion dance set was down there in quality alongside this one though in my opinion.

The problem is that the set only contains chinese characters and chinese icons and symbols that only make sense to people who speak chinese. The set doesn't contain anything from other Asian countries and symbols of other asian cultures.

If you're going to make a "Lunar New Year" set, you'd need to include things from other cultures as well. Otherwise make a different set for other asian cultures.

There's a lot of generalization of the name of our holiday. Commercialization of it is even worse, just as you've outlined

Yeah, might be Amazon and Walmart jacking up the prices, due to demand.

It actually shows up as $54 on the official Lego website (but shows out of stock). Although crossed-out MSRP is showing $90.
