How are these in comparison to elixirs?

Very similar to elixir. The ones you really want are XS. Particularly on the acoustics above and beyond in feel and durability

the XT which replaced the EXP line is more of natural feeling string then the Elixers. Like ChristianC872 mentioned, the XS are more similar to the Elixer strings with a thicker coating, but also more natural feeling.

Personally, I like the NYXL, they feel natural but last over twice as long and are twice as durable as regular strings. Good goldilocks strings. But, they are also usually their most expensive strings - even more than the longer-lasting XS.

Love NYXL on hard tails, nice high output also.

Tell us more. How is the NYXL superior? Would love to know whether I should try them in spite of the cost.

they use different steel, claim is better tuning stability and less breakage, cannot confirm this but the tone is definitely more punchy and great for all rock rhythm work

I have the nyxl on all my electrics these days but most noticeable on Floyd rose bridges where I've accidentally overtigtened, used bar up, tightened more, then string popped out of bridge. This has happened multiple times to me because I'm an idiot . But, unlike every other string, instead of breaking, the string itself was totally intact and I just put it back in. Not saying you should get them just for durability sake, but it is a major selling point.

I love the NYXL's on my Gibson Archtop. Great highs, stays in tune good with a lot of bending.

I've always hated Elixir. They lose their brightness faster than any other strings I've ever used. I really don't like the coating they use. I tried some again several years ago, just to see if my opinion changed, and it hadn't. I'll never buy Elixir again. While there may not be a "best" string brand, because it's all personal taste, D'Addario has been my go-to for well over a decade.

I tried a few sets of these and they're not my thing, wasn't crazy about how the wound strings felt. Elixirs feel better, but dont sound as good as these. Dadario's nyxl is about the best non coated string i've ever tried. For coated i like the ernie ball line best. Good price though.

The tone just feels a lot more strong and pure. They really make the guitar shine more. They're really expensive, though. I don't think it's worth buying them regularly unless you have money to burn, but I'd use them for a recording session or maybe a really important gig.
