These are very nice, sturdy, and heavy! (you'll need 2 strong people to carry the box).

One plus is that if you have 2 of these sets you can place them 6 feet apart and use one shelf from each (e.g., the bottom shelf) to make two mid-level shelves in between (the shelves can attach on the outer holes of the vertical posts--which is something you cannot do with the cheaper Whalen and other units that have 4' wide shelves) so that you have about 18-feet of shelving. These are sturdy enough you can skip the bottom shelf and use that space for items that can sit on the floor.

EDIT: Read the Wiki for advice to open the box and load items one at a time so one person can load and unload it without lifting the whole box by itself.

The attached photos show how the two units can be linked by using a shelf from each to make two connecting shelves
This is a great deal on some extremely sturdy shelves. They are like mini pallet racks.

There are similar designs sold by other box stores but the metal on these is thicker and stronger. Walmart has a version that is 800lbs per shelf where as these are 2000lbs per shelf.

Besides their strength, they have some other amazing advantages: they can be put together much faster and more easily than most other shelving options, and they add on to each other just like pallet racking.

And they can be easily disassembled and re-used over and over. Most cheaper shelving doesn't seem to survive being taken down.

If I could go back in time, this is the only kind of shelving I would have ever bought for my home or business.

Note - if you want to combine shelving or need/want extra pieces, most of the different versions from different box tores are NOT compatible. They have different types and heights for the holes on the uprights.

HOWEVER, Menards sells pieces under the "Performax" brand that will match and line up with these Costco shelves. You can buy extra uprights, extra shelf beams, etc. And they also sell wood shelf decking that fits in these if you need flat wood shelves instead of the wire shelves.
$170 per online if you order 4 including tax for me. They are part of the buy more promo.

I just saw this in my local Costco (Danvers, MA) and it was $159.99 in store. Felt really sturdy.

Great deal! They seem to go on sale every January. I bought one of these last year. They are very sturdy and fairly easy to set up. They go for $250+ at the hardware stores.

I bought two of these. The box is very heavy. These are the best shelves ever! At this price it's well worth it.

Need to figure out if it would fit in my car if I was to buy it in the store.

Have a bunch of these in my basement. Very sturdy when loaded just make sure you watch your fingers putting them together. I do feel very fortunate getting them for 99 a piece about 5 years ago!

It's about 6 feet long and a bit over 2 feet wide, so you need that much pass through from your trunk (if you have a sedan). It also weighs about 190 pounds. I fit it in my SUV that can fit the 6-feet length.

I attached a link that shows the box width/length being close to the shelves' 2'x6' size.

Does anyone know if these racks/shelving are compatible with the Home Depot version? I have the Husky Heavy Duty Industrial Rack (which is no longer being made) that's the same size. I bought the newer version which is incompatible with the existing shelving. I've also asked a few HD associates and no one could give me a clear answer. Hoping someone here has had experience or ran into the same issue as I have

I have the Sams Club version of these, bought 4 when we put up our detached metal garage. Attached all 4 to each other along the back wall, they're awesome and VERY sturdy.
If you need good racks, spend the extra money… I have some of the MuscleRacks (or whatever they call them now) from Lowe's in the basement that I bought when we moved in… money was tight, so I got what I could on sale and with coupons… they're horrible, need to flip the shitty particle board now and then, they wobble… if you can swing it, just buy these 😉

I bought Husky shelf at HD recently for $249. This one is very similar if not the same (size, design, material). Really good garage shelf. Will be picking up one from Costco now. Thanks for the info

Love these. Just moved into a new place at the end of the year and bought 2 of these. They are quite sturdy and I love the fact that with 2 you can actually cannibalize 1 or 2 shelves and attach them together given how modular they are. Being toolless, putting them together was relatively straightforward.

I don't know this for sure, but I have one and bought a couple more used that looked exactly the same. They have the exact same mounting pattern for the shelves, but it's just ever so slightly different because my Costco shelves won't fit.
