The expert has been right on with his reviews, at least based on my own experience with models he recommended.
I use a Braun Series 8 S8 for daily shave when baby-smooth skin is not an issue, or if I skip shaving for a few days. And I use the Panasonic ARC 5 ( ES-LV95) for the closest shave with minimal irritation, mostly only if I shaved already with the Braun, or if it was only one day between shaves.
The Panasonic is almost as close as a manual razor blade...in most places it's as close as a blade except around the neck area in some places where the hair grows in different directions. But it does have problems with 2-4 days old facial hair. It misses some, and also does not have enough power at times.
So I use the Braun 8 Series S8 to cut coarse days old facial hair as my daily driver. But it it's not as easy on my neck as the Panasonic and get light rashes often. Hoping to solve that with the Braun Series 9 for a decent close shave without irritation for daily shaves. Will see...
I wet shave every morning at the sink. I've never taken to the shower or anything like that.
Power button broke and fell out after ~9 months. They replaced under warranty.
Power button broke again and fell out after another ~6 months. They replaced under warranty though they installed the wrong color button.
Whole unit died after another ~6 months. Somehow water was able to enter this wet/dry model just by carefully shaving at my sink and completely rusted/shorted out everything. They replaced the entire guts and also replaced the power button for the 3rd time, this time they installed the correct color.
Power button broke and fell out after another ~6 months and now it is out of warranty so I'm SOL.
In general the razor doesn't give the closest shave, especially for a $200+ razor, but I think it's adequate. I don't have that much facial hair and I shave almost every morning but it still have to go over my face over and over and it likes to miss hairs on my neck. The biggest thing I hate, of course, is the cheap power button design. The button is held in by very small plastic, spring-like features they just break over time which causes the button to fall out. If you go to amazon.com or somewhere and read the 1 star reviews or just scroll through the pictures people have posted you can see that the power button falling out is a pretty major issue.

I may shave once a week and I hit it all with a beard trimmer with no guard and then a razor. Are you saying the Panasonic would take off a weeks worth of growth and leave it near-razor close in one step?

Can I just replace it with water and let it clean?
