They also have an 1100-Piece set that looks like it sells regularly for $24.49 and says it is compatible with all major brands. Not sure why that one is so much cheaper than the others. Maybe because it only contains bricks and not the other specialty pieces?

That product is a different style then the OP's post. The 1100 piece set is generic lego-style bricks.
