That time frame is modern era for PC gaming. We started gaming in 1994 on a blazing fast Pentium 90 with DOS and resetting ports to avoid conflicts between the sound card and the video card. In October of 1995 I was searching for a game online and I found a used copy of the game for a really low price on this place called EBay —so I became a member to bid on it. Today I have been a member of EBay longer than anyone else in the world as far as anyone can tell.

Man, my 900 Mhz Athlon II blew that sonofabitch out of the water. That would have been such a flex for me. Until 2 years later when tech was moving so fast that it would be completely outdated. Jedi Knight ran like crap on my 90 Mhz Pentium btw. In case that's a consideration for anyone.

A friend gifted me his old Pentium II budget rig in 2001 and I was super happy with it. It ran Quake 3 at 60-90 FPS (which is the engine that Jedi Knight 2 uses) and Windows XP which was brand new at the time worked with it. I remember being shocked that the XP install required a full 1gb which was prime real estate on my 20gb 5400rpm hard drive…

I've seen people nostalgic for how fast tech advanced in the 90s and 00s. It just seems annoying and expensive. Lol
