This was $10 during the Christmas/new year sale 2 weeks ago This post seems like a ad promotion post.

yeah that's correct, anytime you see a post made by "staff" it's an ad/promotion.

"The Skywalker Saga"

This is so insulting to Rey. There was a whole trilogy about her, but all anyone ever wants to talk about are the Skywalkers.

The Palpatines deserve respect, too.

Thanks for the info, but this is still a pretty good deal for those that may have missed the Christmas sale.

You're disrespecting Rey's choice at the end of her trilogy by calling her a Palpatine.

Sorry, but you don't just get to appropriate someone else's name and legacy like that.

In addition, they made a big deal of Leia telling Rey to "never be afraid of who you are" in the last movie. It was the last conversation the two had and it was supposed to be a big emotional moment. So what does Rey do the first chance she gets? She tries to discard who she is, and her family legacy in favor of the "cool" family.

Lame.

You can in fact legally change your name to that of another family in most if not all countries.

And we all know that's exactly what Rey did. She went to the First Order and said "I'd like to legally change my name to Skywalker. Which form do I fill out?"

Come on, man.

Darth Vader was Anakin Skywalker. Obi-wan Kenobi was known as Ben Kenobi for a while. Kylo Ren was Ben Solo. No evidence any of them went through any legal process to change their names.

None of those examples are even remotely applicable because they weren't taking someone else's name.

Now, if Anakin decided that he wanted to be called Anakin Windu, that would be analogous.

And, given Leia's speech to her about never being afraid of who she was, it would have made more sense to try and use the Palpatine name for good. To show that it doesn't matter where you come from or what your ancestors did, it's about what YOU do. But that would have taken time and effort.

Weird line to draw with no basis in SW universe or real world. There's no ownership over last names. If you can change your last name, you can change your last name to match someone else's last name and don't need their permission.

Except YOU'RE the one who brought up how people can legally change their name in the real world. But, even in the real world, you cannot simply decide that your last name will be X. You have to actually go through the legal process. Which is why I made the joke about Rey going to the First Order to change her name.

And the issue isn't whether she would need someone's permission to become a Skywalker (and who would she even ask, since by then all the actual Skywalkers have been killed off). The issue is that she has no real connection to the Skywalkers. There's one year between the time she meets Leia in TFA and Leia's death. She spent even less time with Luke. So what gives her the right to claim the name Skywalker? Just because they trained her? Jedi have been training Padawans for generations. That's nothing special. It was a ham-fisted and forced attempt at passing the torch and it failed completely.

I know of a couple sub-reddits where you two would fit right in.

Tell that to the producers, director, and actors in Netflix's Cleopatra
