Can't necessarily argue on that point. These are cheap connectors for quick and dirty jobs that don't need permanence.
So, here, we part ways. Based on research by NASA, crimped connectors result in better performance and reliability than soldered connections. You still need good crimps and good crimping processes, but for truly mission critical you want crimps for wire to wire connections, not soldered joints.

Severing strands in a wire to "make a connection"… why in the world would anything think that's ok??? This is the quick crap work you get from BestBuy installers, do it right if you're doing it yourself.

Nobody here is arguing crimp/solder connectors, for instance the spade side, which I've found to be an industry norm where I'm employed… and it's primarily due to workmanship issues, it's easier to have unskilled labor crimp and inspect that connection than a soldered joint.

It should go without saying but I know somebody won't understand and I'm nothing if not thorough:
Before anyone can crimp and solder this type of connector, the metal connector must first be removed from it's plastic sleeve..... See, not rocket science at all once ya get it.
