It would be nice if they made these in this size or larger but with the kids 12oz version straw attachment. Easier to drink while moving. Love straw cups but none that I found I can toss in a bag or allow it to lay on its side and not leak.

So I've saved and stockpiled lids from the 12oz version. I've occaisionally even purchased the 12 oz versions only for the purpose of scavevnging the lids.

Other than a brief period during which a different screw pattern design was used (seemingly for Wal-Mart specific models) the lids have been otherwise completely interchangable.

This is done both so that I can share the thermos with my youngest child, but also to maintain compiance with the schools and care locations that request spill-proof designs.

I don't like the older handle design used on the plastic funtainer, but given their lower price I wonder if their lids are also usable on the larger sizes.

Good luck!
Jon

For reference, the last time I personally paid this little for the 16oz model was March of 2023 for the Galaxy Teal pattern.

Good luck!

Hmm. I think maybe next time I'm in the store and I see some ill try to swap the lids and see if they are interchangeable. I like the 12oz straw lids because it's all silicone and stainless steel inside except the plastic straw but I swap that out for a silicone straw and it's better. If something gets left in too long its easily cleaned with vinegar and boiling the straw.

Thanks for your response

But then the straw is too short?

Correct. But what I've done is adapted some straws that came with a T-Mobile Tuesdays tumbler to work as extended straws.

Good luck!

I love the 12oz version (my daughter has 4 of them). I found this 17oz bottle 2 yrs ago and it's just as good as Thermos in terms of quality. THAT said, eventually, they all leak a bit when side ways.

While it will keep hot liquids hot, the wide lid means you'll burn yourself trying to drink it for many hours.
This is a non-hot liquid container. Great for chilled and room temperature drinks. I have a 24 oz version ($13 pre-Xmas), no straw, and put some hot cocoa into it for the 7 hr drive home. Even after 4 hrs, I was still getting burned from the hot milk no matter how much blowing on it I did. The lid is the flaw, nothing else. It only leaks if the lid isn't corrected seated when screwed into place. Other than that, it doesn't leak.
Yesterday, I loaded the 24oz version with some lemon water with chipped ice (about 1/4c) since the water was already chilled. Drank all the liquid before bed, and this morning there was still ice inside it along with about 1/8 cup of cold water.

Keeps cold stuff cold and hot stuff hot. That's why we buy insulated bottles, right?
I've been using a 40oz Thermos for hot liquids over a decade. It looks and behaves like new still. I expect in 20 yrs of 4x a week use, it will still perform the same. I mostly use it for hot tea and clean monthly with some denture tablets. The mouth on the 40oz isn't as large as on the 24oz which is able to take 2.5 automatic ice cubes (not really cubed) through the mouth concurrently. I mostly use chipped ice since the fridge provides that option.

I've been pleased with both Thermos bottles and would buy another. I would like a way to blow on the liquid to cool it before drinking. Other insulated coffee containers work with that, just wish Thermos would too, since they handle keeping temperatures so much longer.

It's of target comments about it eventually leaking. I already have that problem with my Contigo.

Interesting how Thermos is marketing it as a 'funtainer'

I have a lot of these for my son. I have never noticed any leaking problems. The only time it will leak is if the lid accidentally pops open. Then the liquid will pour out (as there is no straw part). Otherwise it doesn't leak as far as I can tell.

Not a fan of pop lids when wearing ball caps. 🧢

The lid hits your bill when sipping. I like the press lids from Contigo better.
