For those new to pizza ovens, wanted to share my recent pellet experience and would recommend avoiding these and going propane. I'm a long time pellet grill/smoker user and could smoke a brisket for 8 hours using about 5lbs of pellets with very little oversight. I was really surprised that to get these pellet ovens up to 500+ degrees to first heat the stone and then bake a few pies took me 7-10lbs of pellets and a lot of fire monitoring. I returned my first pellet grill and have really enjoyed the ease of a propane oven. I thought I'd be sacrificing a smokey flavor, but didn't notice any flavor change in the propane oven.

These are cool: wanted to add there are no-name brands out there with 14" sizes & they rotate, which in my opinion is probably better but what do I know I've been shopping these things for over a year & still haven't picked one up.

I got the Fyra a year or so ago and also advise against pellet. It was too much work to maintain the fire and keep it full without too full to where it would go out.
But there is a Ooni propane conversion kit that is meant to be used on the Karu that can also be used on the Fyra with a little modification that I did and am much happier with.

Why is this marked dead? I still see it live.

And no love for this deal? Seems to be the cheapest ever.

Thanks, picked up one. They had only display model available with no box. Absolutely perfect condition! Great deal, have been looking for one for more than a year.

For those looking and in response to the pellet/gas fuel type, I have the Koda 16 (gas, much easier to control the temp) and add pellets in a smoker tube to the right side of the oven to add that wood fired flavor. Best of all worlds. That said, at $149 id be all over this.

Good info.

Just curious, what make/model of pellet smoker are you using to get that kind of efficiency? I have an older Green Mountain (GMG) Jim Bowie. It does a pretty good job of giving a smokey taste (unlike Traeger from what I understand) but it's definitely a pellet hog. I haven't really calculated it's rate, but it's definitely not as efficient as 5 lbs for 8 hours. I'm sure it's size has something to do with it, but I'm still unhappy with the overall efficiency.

As far as not noticing much of a flavor difference between pellets/propane, it's probably because the chimneys on these pizza ovens are situated right above where the fire source is. So it's not the same situation as BBQ/smoking where the meat is getting completely engulfed by smoke. Also, pizzas literally get cooked in just a few minutes where as in BBQ/smoking, the meat get exposed to the smoke for hours on end.
