Seems like this has only 1gb port even though it says supports moca speeds of 2.5gb speeds. Bit deceiving? Looks like 7250 model gets you the 2.5gb Ethernet port.

Works way better than powerline for me, in fact I ran an extra coax line to my garage since it was easy. I have 4 adapters and get gigabit speeds to all nodes. It does seem to add a bit of latency (3ms or so).

If you already have coax, you can leverage that instead of running new cabling.

How is the Frontier FCA252 so much cheaper thant he ScreenBeam version? Even the 2.5GB is 50%+ off. Anyone know of any technical difference?

Thanks OP! Bought one even though I'm clueless about this. The last tech I tried was Poweline and it was not as good as I had hoped.
I went from a powerline setup to this and love this. My powerline adapter was... ok... but this is 10x better and more reliable. If you have coax cable running thru your house, this is the way to go.

No comparison. Assuming your experience will be like mine, you will find these multiple times better including both speed and stability.

If it has a 2.5gb Ethernet port, I'll keep it. If not, I'll set it up at my ex'es house. She has a 3rd google WiFi node that's connected wirelessly thus far. I'll wire it if so. Either way, $25 is dirt cheap if it works
oh well just fyi you need an adapter for each end. some of the listings give you discount for purchasing more than one at once.

its not about the technical difference - who knows how the guy on ebay is getting his adapters, but lets just say I doubt it will come with a manufacturer warranty or any sort of support. I've seen ppl online asking around for a manual if that gives you any picture regarding the support.

Thanks for the reply. But yes, the Orbi router is already connected to the modem via Ethernet. I also have another Orbi satellite in the other room and it is not connected to the Ethernet. So this can work with the satellite by attaching the MoCA coax to the wall and the Ethernet to one of the Ethernet connection of the satellite?
yes - that is how i have my orbi setup to get wired backhaul.

How does this compare to the gocoax moca adapters? I have fios and am currently using those, but finding that the stability is not the greatest. I have a deco mesh system and using it to create a wired backhaul

I've already set up her house with Moca devices. This would "complete" her network

She has an AP in a far corner that using wireless backhaul. This will wire everything up and give her great wireless plus wired throughout

Curious as to what kind of houses people have that need all of these mesh routers and backhaul's ? I have a 4k Sqft ranch house ( I am fairly confident if was 2 story and 8K Sqft my router could cover that too) and with one wireless router I can get wireless anywhere in my house and even out into my yard! I do have some cat6 ran wired for my security system as I don't want one $10wireless jammer to take the whole thing out but the rest is wireless and I have a metric crap ton of wireless devices! Is it just because people live in signal congested areas or what ?

Lessen congestion between orbi nodes is the reason I got it.

You are correct that the networking industry definitely has us over worried about coverage. I get my equipment used for cheap so idc if things overlap.

I got the 2.0 version for $80 from B&H a couple months ago. It does gigabit, just like this one.
MoCA 2.5 adapters can use the additional bandwidth to reach 1 Gbps full duplex. MoCA 2.0 adapters were limted to 1 Gpbs half duplex.

Moca - Half or Full Duplex [reddit.com]

MoCA Alliance - MoCA Home 2.5 [mocalliance.org]

MoCA Alliance - MoCA Home 2.0 [mocalliance.org]

ScreenBeam ECB6250 and Frontier FCA252 use MoCA 2.5. goCoax and Hitron also make MoCA 2.5 adapters.

ScreenBeam (aka Actiontec) ECB6000 uses MoCA 2.0.

I have GoCoax Moca devices in my house. They work great.

If you're having instability issues, there's a good chance it can be your mesh system. I had an old Deco M5 system in the past. One of the most unreliable WiFi systems I've ever had next to a Tenda Nova system that was utter garbage. Both had constant dropouts, had to reboot them often. Signal strength were, meh at best. Constant buffering and packet losses with online gaming. 🤮

My experiences anyways. I'm sure others were happy with there's… not me.

Moca devices can mix and match. Even 2.5 and 2.0 and 1.1. You'll be limited to the slowest of the Moca devices I believe. I setup up my ex'es with the 2.0 version of the ScreemBeam. Works great for her

Well, you're at a ranch house that I'm guessing is the only house on the proverbial block. So your router can probably reach as close to its theoretical advertised limit per the manufacturer.

I'm wondering at the farthest corner of your house, what's your WiFi download speed. And what devices you using in that area. Be curious to see a screenshot of your download speeds

I'm also wondering how many walls from your router to the farthest corner. Ranch House in my head says a "very open" space

Considering the device isn't that expensive. For me, anything that doesn't move and if it's near an coaxial outlet I'd put one of these one it. So for example, streaming device, desktop, or even laptop station (or any docking stations). For me anything that can be wired, I typically put it on wire. It's just easier and there isn't much to think about as far as network goes (e.g., wifi issues and such, although I know that's not as common these days).

As for wireless, I don't know about you, but just because there are signal doesn't it works well. When I'm out in the garage I get 2 bars instead of 3 bars on my wifi, and it's barely useable already.

Some claim goCoax manufactured the Frontier MoCA adapters. Frontier FCA252 is quite similar to the goCoax MA2500C.
