I ordered the 2.0 because all my nodes are capped at 1gbps, but it looks like maybe I should have sprung for the 2.5 since the combination of full duplex and higher bandwith means I'm more likely to max out and actually reach 1gbps...
should I cancel the order and upgrade, or will I really not see much of a difference, since again, nothing on my network supports more than 1gbps?
But it's not that much more for 2.5Gbps ethernet equipped MoCA adapters now. ~$120 for a set. That's 2.5Gbps of actual bandwidth vs 1Gbps.
Much more future proof for devices that are pretty reliable long term. It's not like these adapters have storage that wears out over time. They will run years with no human intervention.
If you can spare a few extra dollars, I'd just go to 2.5Gbps now. You're good for the next several years for an extra $30 or $15 per adapter. vs upgrading in a couple years and repurchasing the damn things.

Will the difference be measurable? Yes. Will the difference be noticeable? That depends on the person and the purpose.
ECB7250K02, which they usually sell for $169.99. I see that they have a sale on that as well today at $135.99. I purchased recently from Amazon Warehouse an acceptable pair at $106 as I expected that it would be still very good from last experience of buying acceptable electronics from Amazon Warehouse. Boy, these time also, they sent me items that looked like new and I couldn't find any cosmetic defects. The performance is also as described.
On mesh wifi before, I was getting only about 200-300 mbps with the WiFi from the nodes.
On my gigabit Internet, with this and Ethernet cable, I get same as the Fios router at about 1.1 Gbps. Now my wifi routers in additional 2 rooms changed to access points provide 500 - 700 mbps over WiFi. Game changer!

After reading through these posts, I decided to see what upgrading to Frontier FCA252 adapters will do for me.

If you're having instability issues, there's a good chance it can be your mesh system. I had an old Deco M5 system in the past. One of the most unreliable WiFi systems I've ever had next to a Tenda Nova system that was utter garbage. Both had constant dropouts, had to reboot them often. Signal strength were, meh at best. Constant buffering and packet losses with online gaming. š¤®
My experiences anyways. I'm sure others were happy with there'sā¦ not me.
Moca devices can mix and match. Even 2.5 and 2.0 and 1.1. You'll be limited to the slowest of the Moca devices I believe. I setup up my ex'es with the 2.0 version of the ScreemBeam. Works great for her
