Normally it's the 5/8" size on sale, but currently, Amazon has the Bosch 1/2" extended length spade bit for 50c more than the all-time lowest price (2017) according to 3C. I use these of all lengths and sizes and love them...when I don't hit nails. Wear safety equipment, drop your drill gear speed into low, and put the side handle on your drill before you begin. This is critical info for ±1¼" sizes, but applies to the ½" size too.

Correct. According to the Camel, the 5/8" x16" always sells for less and it goes on sale for as low as $4.00 regularly. This post was for people who may be interested in the 1/2" size because they need 1/2" bore holes and because 1/2" *never* goes on sale. If the bore size doesn't matter, definitely save a dollar and get the 5/8".
