Costco adds a two-year warranty. Also, the Best Buy deal is for the keyboard without the charging slot, and no Slim Pen 2.
Better value maybe, but not necessarily the better deal. Some people (like me) don't want/need the i7 so prefer the cheaper i5 bundle (I also already have the surface pen from previous gen and hardly ever use it).

LONG term Surface Pro devotee - have had SP 4, 6 and 7+ about 9 years now.
I got the Core i7 SP 9 over black friday. Certified refurb. $940. Seemed like a smash deal. Arrived near brand new - only 2 battery cycles. Mint condition.
And boy was it a massive disappointment. Day to day performance wise it made no significant and notable improvement over my SP7 Core i5. But that battery life, god awful. 5 hours max. Utterly outrageous - my SP7+ lasted 7 hours brand new, and still does 5 hours after overusing it.
This just goes to show how poor Intel have been the last 2-3 generations (or more). I promptly returned the device and am holding out hope the Meteor Lake refresh (likely coming in May) is a change. If not, I'm swearing off win-tel for a while and getting a Macbook Air.

I learned the hard way that i7 throttles more than i5. So I agree. Def prefer the i5. I wish they had the green for this deal!
FWIW, there's supposed to be a refresh of these with newer chips coming in March (possibly only in the "for business" lines) followed by complete re-designs in June that launch with the new OS, new chips, and new design for the Surface Pro and Laptop.
I'm happy with the SP9. Got these exact specs last year for $1300. No one else makes anything similar in form and performance. Yes, battery life isn't stellar but it hasn't let me down. I can run a development environment, containers, vms no problem. I prefer to use a separate fullsize keyboard and I travel often (carry-on only) so that's why i like sp9 over any laptop. Recommend to get a portable monitor (16:10 ratio) and a SSD upgrade too. Then you'll have a very productive and mobile setup.
As far as I understand i7 isnt necessary, for this generation the i5 and i7 are nearly identical in performance.
Also, if you're not in a rush i would wait for Sp10 this year.

So you'll have to wait at least seven months to buy one. Not great if you need one now.

Not really, most likely you'll be able to snag one in June. The thing, though, is if the new refresh is Intel Meteor Lake as expected, the reviews on those chips are showing a marked performance improvement over current gen (although not quite sure what the battery life for ultraportables looks like based on early products that have launched to market right now).
I'm personally waiting for the Pro 10 with the new Intel processors to see whether it's delivering the gains that are expected after I returned my SP 9 I bought over the holidays.

Intel really needs to get its act together!
