Do you happen to know if any of these Microsoft Surface Pro comes with an LTE chip/modem built-in? I want to connect a Surface Pro or any other tablet with an in-built 4G/5G BUILT IN to connect to the T-Mobile. Any tips would be appreciated.

Only surface pro 9 X with Qualcomm has it right now but don't by it now since surface 10 is coming

New surface 10 is supposed to have LTE/5G on both intel and Qualcomm chips coming soon. Pray Qualcomm arm chip has better software support. To be determined.

The new surface 10 is at least $1500 for a 16GB version though. They jacked it up.

I'm glad that Surface Pro's exist, in the sense that they are driving other companies to come out with competitive products.

Even though this looks appealing, it feels hard to justify, seeing as things like the Minisforum V3 is set to launch at $1,199 and its specs simply crush this (8840U, 32GB RAM, 1TB, with all the accessories).

Price seems good for that spec. I've never heard of this tablet/laptop device. How good is it compared to Surface

Of note, $1199 is the discounted pre-release price, with free accessories. The v3, after release, is set to be $1500 for the machine alone. Still a better deal, but makes the decision a bit closer considering reliability and support. My anecdotal experience with a SP4 being great for 5 years, and the accidental warranty coverage for only $150 which covered Microsoft accessories (which I did use for a mouse) would lead me to lean toward a Surface device again, though I'm not up to date on reviews.

Correct, it's the pre-release price. But I can almost guarantee it becomes the standard price, as Minisforum, GPD, Chuwi (Essentially all of the Chinese/SE Asia mini OEMs), all put "pre-release/pre-order" pricing on their new launches - whether that's their official sites, Indiegogo, Kickstarter, then it launches and the price remains the same or very flat. All their distributors then compete (Aliexpress, DroiX, Lanruo), and the price is never actually back to "MSRP."

So with that in mind, I do treat any "sale" prices as essentially the going rate for this type of tech.

I love the form factor of the surface pro. If they could make a surface pro that had a discrete GPU - not even a great one by modern terms, just one that could perform at a GTX 970 level - it'd be hard to pass up. But I don't know if such a thing will exist anytime soon.

never gonna happen. it's meant to be lightweight "business" machines. There is a consumer version coming but all built-in GPUs. no one games or do anything heavy graphics on these machines that I know of.

not even direct competitor to iPad for games.

Maybe when the ARM chip really get advanced and has nice GPU performance in in the future but Qualcomm already said maybe they will work with nvidia etc in the future. (probably far out).

Intel ARC maybe will be faster and better but not gonna be like discrete cards.

I live in the Bay Area, California and I have yet to see a Surface Pro in the wild. The only times I see it used is when I watch an NFL game lol.

Specs are great on paper but I have concerns due to it being a 1st gen device, although maybe they won't have a rocky start like all the other companies did. I'll be amazed if the stylus experience is great, there's lots of existing tech they probably learned from but it's also so hard to get right for some reason (e.g. palm rejection, straight lines, pen tip friction)

Yeah, agreed - it's too bad though, I really enjoy the portability of them. I even like the whole "cover as a keyboard" setup, though I know that's not everyone's cup of tea.

It looks cool for sure and I was loving the experience and ended up with 5 diff versions of it the form factor between Dell and Microsoft.

But now I am back to MacBook cuz I still prefer it since I can do more on it directly. I use surface type machine maybe once a month now. Just too low and battery still sucks to me so I only use them when I am not out all day with the surface type of devices
