& OP! One of my parents enjoys their food and I'm contemplating this as a birthday gift for them.

And from the looks of it, most locations are participating except for those noted below:

Unless things have changed dramatically in the last 6 years or so, this is simply not true. I worked for over 10 years at an Applebee's. The majority of items were not microwaved. There was a large fire grilling surface with black grill grates, a large flat top grill, and fryers, as well as a small stove area to cook things in boiling water. There were indeed a couple of microwaves, which every restaurant has, which were primarily used to cook some of the kids items like kids hot dog and kids macaroni and cheese. Microwaves were also used to reheat vegetables which were cooked properly earlier in the shift. Most of the food - burgers, fries, steaks, fried chicken items, ribs, riblets, mozzarella sticks etc were never microwaved at any point.
I worked at an Applebee's for a couple years as well (this was maybe 15 years ago) and my experience was exactly the same. Also, I seem to recall them making pre-sorted steaming bags full of mixed vegetables (carrot, broccoli, and squash i think) that they would put in the microwave. It's really not as bad as the memes make it seem.. unless thins have changed a lot, as you already mentioned.

but i have to eat at applebees 52 times! yikes
Technically after 7 visits it would have paid for itself, if you're using the full $30 each visit. Anything over 7 visits and its super discounted food. I don't even like Applebees and haven't been there in 4 or 5 years. But if I could get a salad, or pasta or occasional burger and wings greasy gut bombs... That's easily doable once or twice a month, and I wouldn't even feel bad about the unused portion. Could let my friend/sibling use the pass a few times. Shouldn't be hard to make this deal worth it. If you live nearby a restaurant.

Even if you got the deal once a week and gave the entirety of the meal to the panhandler on the corner by Costco on your way out of the parking lot... A hot meal goes a long way for most folks... Even if it came from Applebees.

So, my 88 year old MIL LOVES Applebees. I sent this link to her and she was so excited to do it that she called her local Applebees and they said it could only be used after 6pm. She doesn't go out after dark because driving at night is difficult for her. Has anyone else heard you can only use after 6pm?

It's rather sad that someone has to spell it out like this, and thanks for doing it. Ironically and unfortunately, those who would benefit from your diligence, will probably not read this
It's not sad in the slightest. It's actually responsible for someone to want to clarify all of the details before they drop $200.

No, it says that it can't be used more than once in a 24-hour window. You can't use it for dinner one night and then use it again for lunch the following day.
But you can use it for lunch at noon and dinner at 4pm the next day! That is not once per week correct?

There is absolutely nothing in the promotional materials that indicates any time restriction.
Yes I agree. I called the manager and he knew about the promo but nothing about the details. Very nice man, actually said he would get back to me once he had details. Don't forget, there are privately owned Applebees that have to follow corporate rules. And these rules may be constantly changing.

You can't use it on consecutive days unless the first day is last day of one week, and the second day is the first day of the following week. Basically you have 52 1-week windows in which to use this.
it does not explain it like that, I think it will be up to interpretation to each location and you will have to make sure they dont do a "well its too early to use the card today"

I think that is how they are planning to make money off this scheme, they are gonna pull a lot of "its not working right now, you have to pay and try it again next week"

they microwave hotdogs??? EEK!
Yes. The kids hot dog came in like an individually packaged plastic microwaveable bubble with the bun on it already, precooked and designed to be heated in a microwave. I think it was Oscar Mayer brand. The kids Mac and cheese also came in a sealed plastic microwave pack. Very few other things were microwaved besides warming up vegetables that we already cooked earlier.
