& OP! One of my parents enjoys their food and I'm contemplating this as a birthday gift for them.

And from the looks of it, most locations are participating except for those noted below:

Subject: Complaint about Applebee's Date Night Promotion

Dear Applebee's Customer Service,

I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the recent Date Night promotion offered by Applebee's. As a loyal customer, I was eagerly looking forward to participating in this event, only to be left utterly disappointed by the way it was handled.

The promotion, which was advertised to offer a special Date Night experience, sold out in less than two minutes, leaving many genuine customers, myself included, unable to secure a reservation. What was particularly frustrating was the apparent lack of safeguards against bots and unfair practices that may have contributed to this rapid sell-out.

It is unacceptable that Applebee's did not implement any measures to ensure that genuine customers had a fair chance of participating in the promotion. The lack of safeguards against bots and automated purchasing systems seems to have allowed unfair advantages to certain individuals or entities, resulting in genuine customers being left out.

As a long-standing patron of Applebee's, I expected better from a company that prides itself on providing a welcoming and enjoyable dining experience for its customers. The swift sell-out of the Date Night promotion, coupled with the absence of protective measures, has left me deeply disappointed and frustrated.

I urge Applebee's to review its promotional strategies and implement stronger safeguards to prevent such situations from recurring in the future. Genuine customers should have an equal opportunity to benefit from these promotions without the fear of being edged out by unfair means.

I trust that Applebee's will take this matter seriously and take appropriate steps to address the concerns raised. As a loyal customer, I sincerely hope that the company will use this feedback to improve its approach to promotions and ensure a fair and enjoyable experience for all customers.

I appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to a prompt and satisfactory resolution.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]

I think an employee leaked it online and it was spread around.

The only poeple that got it were those that had the direct link prior to 12:00
Not true. I got one with no direct link or bots. Just luck.

Excellent letter. Maybe you'll get an actual reply, but more likely it will be a standard form response that they're going to send out to everybody who writes and complains. You should have mentioned that you won't be patronizing their restaurant any longer, although they probably couldn't care less since they're a giant corporation, and you're just a single customer.

Complaints, yes. Lawsuits? You've got to be kidding me. Someone is going to throw money away hiring a lawyer to get nowhere?

I got in within a couple of seconds after the 9 AM release, and had one in my cart. Put me in the queue for checkout, before I got message about it being Sold Out.

So even though it officially sold out in around 1-2 minutes, only someone who got in within a millisecond of 9 AM PST, and was at the front of the checkout queue, got one.

We went to my local Applebee's two weeks ago. Two bacon cheeseburgers with one large appetizer. The total was $70 with a tip. Even after I got 10% off for being a senior citizen.
You must have been very generous when you tipped the waitress. No way the food was close to the total you quoted.

What a joke. This said "page unavailable for 3 minutes for my daughter and I". We continually refreshed. Then it said sold out.

I'm a bit surprised that there are Zero E-Bay listings, especially since some had to be sold to people who used Bots, and were just looking to make a buck off selling it.

Definitely worth it for them. At almost 0 cost they got the buz and the emails, a little bit of negativity, but overall I think they're celebrating
