You described it yourself. It's the same phone with some basic tweaks, most of which are software.

thats every year for some yrs now. heck to me it seems a bit more iterative than the past as it least they have the new ai nonsense to push this time even if it is bs. and the flat display. the usual brightness bump. seems like the new gloss resistant (?) gorilla glass armor coating on the ultra could be a really significant thing too based on some videos, it's much less reflective and easier to view outdoors than the 23, but that would require hands on use to say.

but yay, this is just that smartphones got boring at least 5 yrs ago. all the low hanging fruit of improvements (such as larger and larger displays and smaller and smaller bezels) got snatched up yrs ago. thats why i still keep my ancient 8t, it's still smooth, fast with 12gb ram,
and works great.

stop and think how hard it must be to bring out a brand new phone every 12 months and bring anything interesting. like right now samsung is hard at work on the s28 for release in 4 years, the s27, and so on. they have to be way ahead by the time one actually comes out.

None of the reviewers are willing to touch the camera change. They mention it they say they need to test it more. There is no way a 5x optical zoom will beat out the 10x optical zoom since they don't mention anything about a sensor size increase. Just increasing the megapixels only allows digital crop using a smaller piece of the sensor. And more megapixels means worse in lower light, in addition to using a smaller piece of the sensor being worse and lower light. I predict in perfect lighting like they show in the demo sure the quality isn't distinguishable. But once the lightning gets dim or you go past something like 15x, I bet it gets really grainy and blotchy looking.

In the automotive world there is a saying "There's no replacement for more displacement. "

Also as an s23 ultra owner, the upgrade price is way too expensive. On the plus side you don't have to do bill payments like you did last year with AT&T Verizon and T-Mobile, but the trade-in value at 750 plus the price increase makes it still a $530 upgrade plus they charge tax on the full amount. It's a lot of money for basically AI enhancements that are probably gimmicky and nobody will use. It felt like 80% of the introduction video presentation was all about AI... But all of that stuff can be done with various apps anyway.

Watching the live event is painful. Scripted presentation is horrible.
Totally agree, it was boring.

Tempting. I have a fold 5. Could trade in or risk selling online. Which would be the better option if I wanted the s24 ultra

Yeah for whatever reason the Z Fold 3 and 5 are listed but not the 4. Weird.
Yep, very weird. My Z Fold 3 wifi stop working 4 days ago. (This is a know problem with the Z Fold type phones and Samsung is aware) I am considering going back to the candy bar format. Want to trade in this Fold 3. Will try again later.

The difference is the amount of money they (up)charge rubes for "AI". LMAO

Unrelated but are there any S23 Ultra users here that are on Nova Prime and using Youtube Revanced without any issues? I can't seem to get the newer Revanced versions to work for the life of of me and I'm trying to troubleshoot it. A brief response is greatly appreciated since it's outside the scope of this thread.

Thanks!

I've posted and so has another OP but SD staff keep taking it down. Pitiful that they want to promote their own staff POSTS ONLY. I'm office done with this site. It's been dreadful past 4 months especially
