How do you get this to work if you only keep it for 4 months?
Thought it's a 24 Month Bill credit?

"Get reimbursed over 24 months
Receive $27.09 off each bill for 24 months
The credit is tied to the person who activated the device"

Sorry for the ignorance but I'm new to Google Fi deals!

Last time, I took the Fi sim out and tossed on day 1. I put my Boost mobile sim on the S23U last year on day 1 as well. All fine with the counter 120 days, then stop service on the plan that I tossed the sim.

Yeah.. I know some folks did that.. I was a bit leery so held off Smilie

Can someone help me understand the purpose of the "using the device for 120 days" requirement? Why do they not allow the account owner to give the phone as new to another person? What's the benefit of this to Google and what bad things will it prevent?

I can only suspect they are losing money in such deals therefore adding all the frictions they could to disqualify you. But then why bother having the promotion? What's the difference if the Fi account owner uses the phone or his wife uses it as a secondary phone?
You can do what you want to do.
Just make sure you order the physical Sim. Do not opt for the eSim. This is the easiest way.
Then, when the phone and the physical Sim arrives, activate the phone, use it for a few days, calls, texts, data, and then take out the physical Sim and substitute the other person's physical NON-Fi physical Sim or use their other provider's eSim.
Do not use the Fi physical Sim on any other device. Just put it in a drawer until the 120 days are over and your Fi account shows that the credit is earned.

Of course, you should not do this IF the other person has a Fi account, use only with another provider.

Was your line suspended/paused then you reactivate for this ?
Or you canceled the line but still have google fi account?
I am the latter.
I did the S23 pre-release deal from Feb 2023 to June 2023. After that I paused my FI Service. In Sept 2023, my sister asked me to order for her an S23 Ultra, so I unpaused my Fi service. Although I had over $200 in Fi credit at that time, they only applied it toward taxes & fees on the 1st bill after resuming service. Had to pay $20 from my credit card.

The Samsung trade-in deal is a horrible deal as you are trading a phone that's worth $500 or more in excellent condition.
For instance, with the trade-in, the S24 5G costs close to the Samsung's retail price, $550 for an S23 5G plus $250 in cash payment = $800+/-.

This Fi deal is far better at only $350+$80 for the 4 month service.
So, you can get the S24 5G for free if you sell the S23 5G for a net price of $430 or more. Do the math for your special situation.

Fi just wants you to PAY FOR 120 days of service to recoup some money. They don't care whether or not you actually use their service. If you want to give the phone to someone to use, activate the Fi SIM then remove it and stash the Fi SIM away (do not use it in another phone). The other person can use the phone with another provider's SIM, as long as it's not with Fi (because the phone cannot be associated with two Fi numbers at the same time).

With my S22, a few days activation I took out the Fi SIM and used the phone with a Tracfone/Verizon SIM. With my S23, I simply turned off the phone and put it back into the box after making a few test calls/texts. The promotions were earned after 120 days without problems. There is info floating around that you have to use the Fi service, or each night Fi pings the Fi SIM to see if it's in the phone. That's total B.S.

If I am on the Simply Unlimited plan can I upgrade to Unlimited Plus, buy the phone and then downgrade back to Simply Unlimited, while keeping the discount/credits? Technically I'm still on active service, but I don't know how Fi sees it
You need to keep the same plan for 120 days if you change you will void the promotion.
Just consider the flex plan and get data using another sim from another carrier

I chatted with another agent at Google Fi. She said the offer for $650 on the S24U is only good for new customers.

If you like to believe FI agent instead of the term and conditions written by Fi legal dept then you should try to open a line and try to buy it...
and if you run into problem please remember to go to chat with Fi chat agent and not come back to post here

I was on a able to upgrade my plan and still got the promotion.
I cleared it with an agent before I did it.
I believe you lose your promotion if you downgrade a plan.
