I do not recommend Spectrum Mobile. They are an MVNO on Verizon towers and when the network is congested, you have little to no connection because your priority is so low. There is also no upgrade option for a prioritized connection. I dropped them after 1 month.
I test with the following tiv samsung phones:

A14 $714
A54 $770
S23fe $880
S23+ $994
Trade in my Google Pixel 6A for $757 that I originally got from metro for $50 years ago. Makes this a true slickdeal 🫡

They don't have an option to trade in a OnePlus phone? Weird considering Kyocera was listed under T-Mobile...

Can one become "an existing customer" by signing up w/ Spectrum? Or does it require waiting/installing the cable modem etc.? I'd like to get this deal but I don't intend to become a customer, so I wonder if this plan is crazy:
  • Sign up for Spectrum Internet for 1 month ($50)
  • Buy the phone - s24 Ultra ($1300) with the cheapest plan ($15 x 2 months)
  • Trade in Pixel 6A (-$700)
  • Cancel the Internet after 1 month and the line after 2 months
  • Total costs: $680 +/- taxes

What could possibly go wrong? :-D

LMK if this makes sense.

Are there any cheap phones (probably sub-$50) that can be purchased to qualify, preferably without activation? Obviously, eBay for old phones is an option, but I know that sometimes stores have cheap $20 phones you can buy without activation as well.
I was able to trade in iPhone 8 for this and gave $700 credit.

It's actually brand new. But it's locked to Metro for 6 months. I figure it's easier to just dump it here.
Easier, yes. But if new, you can probably still sell it for $300-$350 after it unlocks if you're willing spend more effort. I also considered trading in the same phone but figured it's worth more than the $180 that Spectrum was willing to give.

Since the phone is on pre-order, can I send in my phone now after ordering before the new phone is shipped?
I did this before, sent way before device shipped and trade-in processed after the device delivered. Don't see any advantage sending it before device shipped.

This is my point of view. Metro is 6 months and Spectrum is 2 months to unlock. From s23fe to s24+, you pay $120+tax. You get 512Gb vs 128Gb, more RAM, and better processor.

I ordered s24 with spectrum. Received trade in instructions. Are we supposed to send trade in device immediately or we can wait until the actual s24 device delivers.

Ridiculous phone prices over $1K. Nokia was the best.

Can I just get a new lowest spectrum line and tradein to get s24 and keep it pay/active for 60 days and then unlock the phone and cancel the spectrum line?

Yes just get the $14 by the gig plan. Expect to pay 2 to 3 months.

Do you get the trade in value in full? Verizon pays it off in 2-3 years so you have to stay with them.

Also planning to use my parent's spectrum internet account. I assume you manage and pay the mobile account separately?

You pay with cc. You'll have about 30 days to pay the bill later. You can send in your trade-in phone sooner. The credit with hit your acct quicker. Then you request to have the money refund to your credit card. After that you owe very little money to your cc depends on what device you traded in. You might end up make money if you trade-in a premium phone.
Lou, does Spectrum charge card right away or when it ships?
