I do not recommend Spectrum Mobile. They are an MVNO on Verizon towers and when the network is congested, you have little to no connection because your priority is so low. There is also no upgrade option for a prioritized connection. I dropped them after 1 month.
I test with the following tiv samsung phones:

A14 $714
A54 $770
S23fe $880
S23+ $994
Trade in my Google Pixel 6A for $757 that I originally got from metro for $50 years ago. Makes this a true slickdeal 🫡

Swappa takes a commission. Then, you have to adding shipping costs. Then, add in shipping materials. Then, add in the risk of the buyer scamming you.

Not worth it to me.

What's the advantage of doing it in-store? You'll still get the trade-in credit refunded if you do it online anyway, right?
No risk of nonsense with assurant and also depending on your state this lets you only pay tax on the difference in value.

Just think about it. In store, you get the device inspect on spot, you get credit instantly. Online, you ship it, they inspect it, they may said your device is damage. Then you will have to fight.

Thank you, I found offer on one of my AMEX cards, right in time.
I won't find out if they stack until the phone ships in 10 days and they actually charge the card. I've had good results in the past so I'm not worried I feel good about getting the $80 cash back.

I am not a spectrum customer but when I try to get this deal with pixel 6 as trade in which is worth $760, I only see a charge for the internet and 12 months of free mobile phone line. So the price comes out to be $1299 - $760 + (3 month * 40) = $659+ tax.

Am I missing something?

Great points, but I'm not sure if it's worth giving up the extra memory storage. The memory upgrade alone is worth $100 or more.

Also, I read some posts saying Spectrum will also refund the difference in tax charged after they receive your trade in. Is that accurate?

They said that if you do it the store and if the new phone is available in store, they will apply the value of your trade-in+ promo right at that moment. Just pay the difference, no need to wait for the refund.

I'm sending in an iPhone 6 plus so no big worry. You don't know if the $700 trade in bonus will still be available when the stores get the phones in stock.

based on past promo, the bonus upgrade will be gone. But TIV stays. Just look at Fold 5, they still offer $1000 TIV.

edit nvm, Fold 5 $1000 is gone.

I had this for the S23 deal last year and I'm STILL getting "free" mobile service looool. If you trade in person in a store you get the value immediately.
I think I need to do this, I have a store a few mins away

Pros in store
No need to wait for the refund, your trade-in phone will get accepted on the spot.
Cons: New phone availability, promo might end and no free storage upgrade.

Mail in pros.
Secured your new phone and the promo plus the free storage upgrade.
cons: Waiting for the refund, trade-in phone might get rejected and need to fight a case with them.

Assurant is the trade-in processing company and they don't care whether it is locked or not, IMEI must match though and not black listed.
IMEI doesn't matter. I've done 5 trade ins and each time put in a random made up IMEI.

I had good luck online with the pixel 8 pro deal in October. I don't trust my local stores to do anything correctly so I'd rather not even waste my time driving there.

Probably I will do 1 phone online. If they are still available in store later then I do more in store. So far I have very good expierence in my local stores.

The trade in offer is going to be there for a while. Here is the fine print for trade in. They do not talk about an end date like 1/30 here

"Offer Details

Promotion requires customers to trade in qualifying device, purchase and activate a new phone. If new phone paid in full, credit applied to purchase. If new phone financed, credit applied to bill in pro-rated increments for the duration of the Device Payment Plan. If the final trade-in value exceeds the cost of the new device, the difference will be refunded to your Spectrum Mobile Account. Trade-in device must have a value greater than $1. Visit spectrummobile.com/tradein for details. Restrictions apply. Subject to change."

The offer for additional storage though says

"Terms and Conditions
1/17/2024 –1/30/2024, or while supplies last, pre-order and purchase a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra 512 GB* ("Qualifying Purchase") for the price of the next lowest storage level at participating carriers and retailers. The discount will be automatically applied at checkout. Additional storage is non transferrable and limited to 1 per Qualifying Purchase. If you return or cancel your purchase the discount will be lost. Void where prohibited or restricted by law.

Samsung reserves the right to modify or discontinue offers at any time by posting a notice on the app or website.
* Portion of storage occupied by existing content
© 2024 Samsung Electronics America, Inc. Samsung, Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra are all trademarks of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. All other brand, product, and service names and logos are marks of their respective owners"

So, the trade in is going to stay while the double storage is going to go away....
