I do not recommend Spectrum Mobile. They are an MVNO on Verizon towers and when the network is congested, you have little to no connection because your priority is so low. There is also no upgrade option for a prioritized connection. I dropped them after 1 month.
I test with the following tiv samsung phones:

A14 $714
A54 $770
S23fe $880
S23+ $994
Trade in my Google Pixel 6A for $757 that I originally got from metro for $50 years ago. Makes this a true slickdeal 🫡

I bought 2 Moto G Play phones from walmart.com for trade-in and haven't activated them with a straighttalk plan. I haven't shipped the devices yet. Will activating the phone with a cheapest plan make any difference with the anti-theft issue people are reporting?

I received S24 phones from Spectrum and activated them. Can I trade-in the Moto G Play phones in-store?
If I were to do the Walmart phone Moto, I would connect to Wi-Fi and cell service (even without a plan), set up my Google account on the phone, give it an hour connected, then factory reset phone, then send it.

I think I know why those phones from Walmart are denied. Walmart didnt properly scan the phones during sale or shipping. No one can activate them if they are not scanned. Many pixel 6a deal thread had issues for this reason.
When I try to activate them on straightalk.com, it says you can't activate.

Thank you! I connected them to WiFi. Can you please tell me how to connect to cell service without a plan?

If I trade in a $40 moto g in store, will that likely work? Sounds like the people getting moto gs denied are the ones that were shipped in correct?
There is no need to activate any of the Moto G devices. Just power up, zip through the first ever setup (while offline) to get to the homescreen to ensure that there's no security locks or Google accounts tied to the device, and obviously inspect the phone for any major physical defects before sending her off.

Source: I did this for 3 preorders, 2 of which have already been inspected & accepted.

Yes thats the problem. The system will think its a stolen phone. There's a fix for this issue on the pixel 6a thread. it requires you to submit copy of receipt for them to release the imei.

Thank you! If straighttalk release the IMEI, should I be good to trade-in those phones? I don't want to activate them.

The trade in process usually takes 3-4 weeks on average. Some are lucky and gets it done in 2 weeks. I really think you shouldn't have done online trade in if you are this concerned about the return date and instead should have done it in store like what lou2004 said.

Other than that, my USPS tracking still doesn't say it's delivered, but still got one of the credit today. You might be in a similar situation where they already have it but USPS hasn't updated anything.
I did a trade in last year without a single issue. Shipping went smooth and evaluation occurred next business day. This time I printed shipping label and sent the same day, giving 14 days for for the process. The package arrived in the destination city within a few days but has just been sitting there without progress for several days now. There was noting to indicate to me that this would be the case or the expected situation. I only did mail in instead of in store because of the preorder special that they were offering only online with double storage for free and the fact that things went smoothly last year.

I hope I am in the same situation as you that it gets processed/credited soon, but I am just concerned about the return window and whether I should just cancel everything and do it in store because of the current situation. That is my concern. Obviously if i knew the trade in would take longer than the return window I would not have done it. 14 days should be plenty of time for USPS to deliver to Assurant. There should not be cahoots between the two where USPS is not doing destination scans. That should be reported to he Inspector General by those who did not have destination scans.

It's not connected like in being able to use the cell service, just sends a signal to carriers server that recognizes the phone, it may or may not make a difference, but takes 10 seconds...

100% agree with you. if i find a slight discrepancy between the printed trade in slip and my phone info, i'll cancel and re-order. I re-ordered twice. just not worth the risk.

This anti-theft thing, will factory reset get rid of that? that's a more tech question, i thought factory reset get rid of everything that should not be there.....

I'm going to be devil's advocate, but lot of people don't follow simple trade in rules like factory resetting, getting rid of locks, including the paper receipt in the box, etc. Or just straight up taking risks like writing wrong IMEI number or choosing the wrong phone model. And judging by how half the people here ask questions that are already answered in the wiki and refuses to do any reading themselves, it doesn't surprise me to hear that some are getting their trade in rejected.

Not saying everyone is like that as there are some that are just plain unlucky, but I honestly wouldn't worry as long as you followed all directions and sent it in properly. Make sure to take pictures and videos of your package, keep the receipt with weight on it (in case it gets stolen you have proof) and you will be fine with any trade in.

TLDR; I wouldn't worry until it's actually time to be worried. Just be patient.

Stock is always low around my area. They only have couple of these promo phones every week before selling out and then have to wait for restock for another week.

My store notifies me through phone call once they get stock again.

Same, my two package is still stuck in the Coppell Dist Center since 1/26. I've received a response back from the USPS investigation team suggesting the package might've been lost. I contacted Spectrum to escalate the issue and also send an email to [email protected] to help track down the package or advise the next step if the package is lost in transit.
I think somebody earlier said similar situation where USPS told them it was lost but then it was delivered. It just sounds like complete incompetence with not doing package scans and Assurant picking packages in random order, processing some newer packages first while others that have been sitting a week are not being processed.

My trade-in got sent to Texas, then to Philadelphia, then back to Texas. Now it's been "in-transit to next facility" for two days.

Ok. I pre-ordered S24 phones online, received and activated them. Can I trade-in the Moto G Play phones in-store if I ordered S24 phones online?
