People who just buy at a regular checkout or do online orders face issues with the anti-theft you mentioned.
See the wiki up at the top of the thread:
WARNING
Make sure to turn it on and see if your phone can activate. Walmart is not properly scanning these phones and trade ins are getting denied because of anti-theft. Buy these phones in store if you can! try to activate online and if error take the whole phone box package to store and have them rescan and reissue back to you or get replacement. check to make sure IMEI of "new" device can be activated online before you leave store
you will not...... get any money...
thanks
Pixel 7 Pro (mint condition from mint deal) and Pixel 3 XL ( physical damage - crack on the back) .
Both were delivered on 2/5 with an assessment date of 2/7 but nothing happened till 2/11.
On 2/11 Pixel 7 pro was approved and today Pixel 3 XL was also approved.
I was also on the fence of return as 15 days crossed , but i took the chance. Hopefully this helps some to make decisions.

Tomorrow is the last day to initiate the return for me so I was wondering if I initiate the return but not mail the new phone back to Spectrum and keep it with me, will they let me cancel the return when my trade in finally gets accepted (hopefully before the deadline to mail the return), and let me keep the new phone and the $700 promo? And if my trade in gets rejected I can go ahead and go through with the return process.
I don't recommend keeping the new phone after you request the return because they must receive it in 10 days.
Trade in Date is 28th February
I am trading in S10 Plus 512gb which is currently in use. I cant sent it in since S24 Ultra is on back order.
Called Spectrum if they can send a updated email for the return label with extended date, they wont, instead the rep told me this "this call is being recorded, Assurant must work with you since this is on Spectrum that the phone is on back order".
Should I just cancel the order and go physically to the store and do a trade in there?
Don't want to risk this BS trade in since cut off is so close 28th February and no guestimate as to when the S24 Ultra ships.

2. They will tell you to do the following: Email [email protected] with name, contact number, ticket number (this is created by chat agent) and attach receipt proof and picture of IMEI (I took a picture of the card that has the IMEI and sim card number on it).
3. You should get email about 24-48 hours later that it can now be activated
4. If they ask you to activate with phone plan then buy this $15 plan and give them the PIN and other relevant information they ask for
- Went to Walmart #1. They acted like it was impossible that I got a phone without it being scanned in. Wouldn't help.
- Went to Walmart #2. They were aware of this possibility but were unable/unwilling to help unless I had the phone in hand to return. (i had the box and everything else, but this wasn't enough)
- Called Walmart.com - They couldn't/wouldn't help.
- Called StraightTalk. They told me to return the phone at Walmart and have it rescanned.
I couldn't get a "ticket number" from anyone. Am I calling the right place? I bought the StraightTalk Moto 4 from Walmart.
So here I am, in phone hell, thanks to Walmart's incompetence. Can't return the phone. Can't get the phones back from Assurant. Is it possible to send another device to Assurant? Anyone have luck with StraightTalk? Any way out of this hell at all?

Just start a chat on StraightTalk website. That's what I did and got the IMEI cleared in 3 business days.
