I do not recommend Spectrum Mobile. They are an MVNO on Verizon towers and when the network is congested, you have little to no connection because your priority is so low. There is also no upgrade option for a prioritized connection. I dropped them after 1 month.
I test with the following tiv samsung phones:

A14 $714
A54 $770
S23fe $880
S23+ $994
Trade in my Google Pixel 6A for $757 that I originally got from metro for $50 years ago. Makes this a true slickdeal 🫡

Did you go to a different store on the same day when verification failed? Or did you wait a few days? I'm getting the verification failed too but I only got traded in once for the S24.
Different day. Funny thing was, the first store I went to, never had any interaction with them prior. My first time actually doing in store.

Hmm...interesting. I contacted chat online asking them why the verification block and they couldn't explain why. They also said they can't do anything about it. Ridiculous.

They are catching/stopping a lot of people, lots of people here and other social media reporting stores not allowing S24 trade ins and getting account banned from purchasing phones in store. So no matter how much mental gymnastics you try and play to act like you are doing them a favor, they are taking action to prevent this activity. And an increasing number of people abusing this deal is probably going to increase the chance it gets killed in the future. As with any deal, people can do as they please, but let's not pretend like we are doing Spectrum any favors. There is a reason that people are doing stuff like going to different stores on different days to try and hide their activity in the same way that retail thieves do.
Nothing unusual, same thing happened last year with S23 promo, and Spectrum is running the same S24 promo this year. I believe they have successfully achieved their marketing intention and decided to continue. From what I know all the Spectrum reps know about the deal and are taking advantages of it too. Whoever believe this is "retail thief" is just foolish.

Here's a real slick question for the ultimate in gaming the system. Say you do the in store trade in and then subsequently return the phone within 14 day return period. Does Spectrum refund you the full retail price of the phone? Thereby making 100% profit, minus the cheap trade in phone which you won't get back?

I'm new to spectrum and trade-in. I see lots of posts saying that locked phones are allowed for trade-in. I have an iPhone from TMO on their "on us" offer.
Technically the phone is not paid off as they provide credits over 2 years. Can I trade in that phone for any of the spectrum trade-in promos? TIA

Same valuation both online and in-store

Metro Samsung A15 costs $40 and gets $700 + $103 trade-in value.

I would strongly caution against this. It's one thing to float the grey area by trading in new S24s for better models. This option is fully within their T&C even though it's a loophole they will likely close up at some point.

Returning the new phone violates the promotion's terms, voiding the trade-in discount. Even if you "got away" with it, I don't think it's wise.

I'm sure you're not the only one who has wondered this, and from one flawed human to another, steer clear! No one wants to be tied up in fraud of any sort. Glad you asked instead of trying it and finding out the hard way.

So not true. If it's not paid off (still getting the 2 years worth of credits), it's not eligible for trade.

Don't believe the previous response. If you are still on a payment plan (even if that payment plan has credits that make the payment from you $0), the phone isn't paid off and would be blocked from trade in

I did not say it was retail theft, reread my response. I said people are behaving as if it is retail theft with their behaviors. Spectrum doing this deal again is not the same as them endorsing the behaviors of everybody. More people exploiting it this year could absolutely kill chances of this deal again in the future. I outlined specific actions that they are taking to prevent what people are doing and many people are reporting getting banned from the activity. If you truly believed that this was not an issue and you can do this deal as many times as you want and this is what Spectrum endorses, then you would not have most of the discussion here being about how people are trying to avoid getting detected and banned and whether people are finding Spectrum employees willing to do it in the first place. The parallel to retail theft, which I specifically outlined, is that they will often hit different stores on different days to exploit a company and avoid recognition. People are behaving that way when they are trying to exploit this deal also for a reason.

I personally would just be cautious when you are trying to swindle a company out of thousands of dollars of merchandise through coupon/rebate abuse. What people have shifted the conversation to is different than the original deal. Spectrum has your name, address, DOB, and SSN. They have a record of all activity in their stores, even if you go to different stores on different days. They could easily look up in their system and compile a list of people who have done above a certain number of trade ins on their account within a certain time period. So just know what you are getting yourself into, especially when we are talking about felony levels of merchandise/money in just about every jurisdiction in the US. I am not saying this to scare people doing this deal, but you have some people here who are messing with many thousands of dollars of merchandise hitting different stores on different days to try and avoid detection.
