Technically the phone is not paid off as they provide credits over 2 years. Can I trade in that phone for any of the spectrum trade-in promos? TIA
Returning the new phone violates the promotion's terms, voiding the trade-in discount. Even if you "got away" with it, I don't think it's wise.
I'm sure you're not the only one who has wondered this, and from one flawed human to another, steer clear! No one wants to be tied up in fraud of any sort. Glad you asked instead of trying it and finding out the hard way.

"To qualify for our trade-in program, your device must meet the following requirements:
It's paid in full
It's able to turn on
It has no liquid damage
It has been restored to factory settings"
So people are free to gamble, but it is outlined very clearly. Most carriers allow people to pay off their remaining balance early.

I personally would just be cautious when you are trying to swindle a company out of thousands of dollars of merchandise through coupon/rebate abuse. What people have shifted the conversation to is different than the original deal. Spectrum has your name, address, DOB, and SSN. They have a record of all activity in their stores, even if you go to different stores on different days. They could easily look up in their system and compile a list of people who have done above a certain number of trade ins on their account within a certain time period. So just know what you are getting yourself into, especially when we are talking about felony levels of merchandise/money in just about every jurisdiction in the US. I am not saying this to scare people doing this deal, but you have some people here who are messing with many thousands of dollars of merchandise hitting different stores on different days to try and avoid detection.
