It doesn't "gum up" The ethanol arnd gasoline seperate from sitting and a layer of water forms between them, the water and Ethanol feed a specific bacteria that forms very corrosive acid and such which eats through rubber hoses, melts fiberglass, and with aluminum carbs, heads, etc it eats the coating off and corrodes the metal. The oxidation is so puffy (it is nasty puffed up crust) that nothing flows. It is "rust" but from aluminum. Trust if it were "gummed up" you could simply run fresh gas and carb cleaner through it and restore it to health. The acid literally destroys the parts requiring replacement. This begins about 2-3 weeks after you purchase the fuel. Stabilizer does not inhibit this, it slows it but it doesn't neutralize the effect.

Comes up as $899 with veteran account. Damn good deal, but I have one of the older models without bluetooth already.

Worked great during a few blackouts here in metro Detroit so far. Runs my lights, internet, TV, electronics etc., and probably the microwave if I'm careful enough. I've idled it through the night without issue.

Manual says E10 is okay so that's what I run, just need to keep up on maintenance. make sure to follow the oil change guidance, and set the fuel switch to off and run it until the carb is empty before you put it away.

Experts,

I have a gas-powered furnace to heat the home. But it needs electricity to run the heater blower/fan. Can this be used to power the fan using the technique explained by this gentleman on his youtube channel?

Thank you for your input and suggestions.

Slick deal, excellent generator, rare discount, but this thread gets downvoted for incorrect information.

No electric start only remote stop. That's a "deal killer" for those who can't lift a jug of milk and post this admission on every pull-start generator thread.

Not sold in California.

No 30 amp outlet on a 120 volt 17 amp generator is a "deal killer". Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

No Dual Fuel LP is a "deal killer" because without the extra 40 lbs of tethered weight it's too portable or could blow away in the wind.

The engine, inverter section and all of the components in the Honda are heavy duty making it a wise investment for commercial and heavy use applications. It's reliable and rebuildable but actually less fuel efficient than the Vietnamese copies which can also be slightly quieter. For occasional consumer use it's likely too well made.

See Honda generators all over the farmers market I worked at. They need to run at least 5 hours, consistently, outside, in the Phoenix heat (or "cold" lol), or it affects their business. And just as important, they are relatively quiet (compared to the cheaper Chinese one our broke selves had to use 😂). When buying one for my home, based on what I've seen row after row, I'd definitely go with Honda
Same with all the street food vendors in Manhattan. All I see them use are the red Hondas! To me, that is a great endorsement for the brand.

Furnace fan should only take a few hundred watts (Mine runs ~250 watts) so this generator will run it no problem. Backfeeding outlets like in that video would be possible, but it's dangerous because you can put the live 120v power from the generator through an exposed plug.

Can you tell us if yours has an app that shows fuel level?

There are zero experts here so take any advice with a grain of salt and do your own research until you're satisfied to make an educated decision.

I would trust someone who has gone through 5 or 6 generators over an "expert"

I think the days of this Honda Generator being good value are gone. There are comparable generators for $350, albeit they don't last as long and are slightly louder, I just don't see the Honda being worth 3x the price.

If you are running a business at the farmer's market or another place where noise reduction and quality is imperative, then I can see this being you jam, but keep in mind this machine is only about 5 db quieter than some of the knock offs on the market.
Was just recently in the market for a new whole home honda generator ... My research has left me to believe you are absolutely correct... The Hondas of yesterday were the bees knees.. However, today all the new ones are being sold with an automatic carbon monoxide sensor shut down switch.. 15 minutes of reading the reviews on all the new ones indicate the shut down switch is.... shutting the unit down while its running outside and in inclement weather ...every few hours... leaving the owner to rectify during the storm.. Big flaw.. Its so bad youtube is flooded with hacks on how to disable these faulty sensors.. I know they save lives blah blah blah.. if your dumb enough to run the generator in your bedroom while you sleep with the door shut you prolly shouldn't be using a generator to begin with.

The app does not show fuel level. I have this generator and the app.

It shows:
Engine hours
Current load
Eco mode
Oil life remaining (this kind of relies on you to reset it in the app when you change it)
Remote shutdown button
Service recommendations based on hours

Companion model has a 30amp but it's not on sale
you have to parallel connect the Companion and the regular model in order to get 30 amps

People can't really answer this for you - best answer is "probably". You really need to test your setup. Furnace blowers can draw a lot of amps at startup even if the generator can handle the continuous load.

If you have access to a clamp meter, you can measure the load yourself and confirm. Another option is to find somebody who has this generator and borrow it to test. I did both of these things before I bought my generator.

I thought that at first, but I believe once you pull the plug and plug that into an extension cord it's disconnected from main power? Making it an isolated circuit?

Like others said, do your DD, and know what you're doing before messing with any electricity. Or simply hire a pro
