The sprat-filled products come from Poland (with the sticker on top of the can), while the ones with sardines come from Canada (with the label printed directly on the cans).

Be careful buying this brand. I bought a case a few years ago and found them a lot more fishy tasting than with regular sardines. I skimmed through the comments, and apparently they sometimes use sprats instead of sardines.

Sardines are usually low in heavy metal since they're consist of various small fishes.

I see it listed on the ingredients for the hot sauce ones.

Just be aware, this is the mainstream slop brand. (Bumblebee owns Beach Cliff) I've given this brand a few chances over the years and didn't like it anytime I tried them. A couple of cans had tons of fish egg pellets all throughout them, some people like that but if you don't then beware. I doubt this company has very good QC considering these are at every grocery store in the country.
I bought into a few of such deals in the past.

Beach Cliff is the least delicious canned sardines brand. I actually think, having had many brands of canned sardines, and also having bough fresh sardines from the market, that these are not at all the species we call "Sardines".

Still a good price and healthy for you, FWIW, if you're counting protein and calorie counts.

The term "Sprats" is also fraught with peril as to what species are allowed to be sold as such.
I have a grocery store near me which specializes in foods from Baltic states, and the canned and jarred sprats are incredible.

I don't get how they can sell these as sardines, when they are sprats. Sprats are smaller, a different species, and have more omega-3- but they are fishier tasting. I prefer herring to all of these though. One day I'd like to try fresh anchovies. I think they get a bad rap because the crap in a can is always salted to lethal levels.

Spots are very healthy unless you have the kind of kidney stones that are made with an overabundance of purine in the diet. If you don't make kidney stones this is one of the top foods of the world for nutrition.

Saedines sold in Costco are less when on sale and taste very good.
