As others have said, just because the retailer is GameStop, Groupon, StackSocial, they're all being sold through each retailers marketplace, so whether you like it or not, your cheap keys are being acquired through the same means.

Does anyone know if this will work if you only have a Office 365 subscription and a One drive account? The first and last line are contradictory, as far as needing Sharepoint, but still says, Power BI, Power Automate, Microsoft 365 etc, seems prohibitively complicated for a home user.

Instead, people should pay $2-$5 and donate the extra to a local charity or your pocket.
The global install code reseller (likely another name version of "NerdUsed") sells the same recycled global codes on non-US sites for 75% less. The Marketplace Seller offers zero added value. They only do credit card processing.
Install codes are not software license ownership proofs, just like a car key is not proof of exclusive car ownership.
