DS version is the best, It has the extras of the PSX version (the Akira Toriyama original artist directed FMV, the original director's extra dungeon mode) without the load times of the PSX version.

There are many ways to play this.
I thought most recommended okaying the original snes version either native or emulated.

DS version is really good too. PSX port is plagued by long loading times. This PC version is okay. Some of the charm is lost with the modern ui and font changes. Also seems to be some buggyness while moving your characters, especially diagonally.

Exactly what I was going to say. How many times do people need to buy the same game?

I bought original SNES version when it was released. Still have it in my closet, logo sticker is half ripped off but game works fine. I figure owning the original allows me to download emulator snes version.

Love the DS version
I would melt into a puddle if they ever remade this a la current FF7 but I'm not holding my breath. Original still fittingly stands the test of time and I don't think that'll ever change. Bring it on Lavos!

Ahead of its time. So many different paths you can go in making replayability insane. You jump back and forth through time of i recall. So many heroes you can find and weapons. Easter eggs. Great story, open world etc

Just an awesome game.

Great game. Not slick deal. Squeenix games regularly go for 50% off on Steam/Humble/etc
