It has pretty adequate Cooling to run it 80W-100W without any issues. When you install these power hungry Intel Chips in laptop, they run hot because you cannot add a tall cooler due to size and height restriction. But when used in Mini-PC, they can add Cooler and heatsink which are bigger and taller, making the CPU run cooler than any laptops, even the biggest ones.
Anyway, Minisforum, has restricted the CPU to 65W by default (You can increase it from BIOS or use XTU) and for that it runs pretty cool, around 80 degree C at all core load. Check the review below: -

edit: ship dates are extending, now 3/29, just pay attention to the banner to know when it may start shipping. Once it ships it will be another week or so coming from China via DHL.

I wonder if this would make for a good "homelab" box. I haven't looked into whether or not hypervisors or container orchestrators know how to effectively use E&P cores.

3 HD v4 memory slots, great 4.0 usb ports, 2 2.5 gig lan ports.

Looks great, But, doesn't the i9 make this thing run as hot as hell? I don't see adequate cooling here. I might be missing something because they sell these all day.

If I tried to render a 3d animation with this I think it would run tooo hot.

In the future I could see a form factor where most what you see is a 3 fans of a cpu water cooler with awhole tiny computer built in to the fan structure. Or, simplified, this product with a 3 fan cpu water cooler glued to it.

It's a lot of networking potential in the mini pc form factor but i might wait for the next revision to see if they can work out the kinks but honestly im just trying my best not to replace my M80Q's with these.

I think this is overkill for homelab, I just bought a minipc with a i5-7500t for $70 on ebay to run containers for small projects and plex and apparently those are overkill for it. If buying new I'd definitely select a minisforum over any of the major brand mini/micro pcs, those aren't as abundant though and seem to hold their value very well.

I've never looked into E&P cores, I'd think the compiler or OS would have to know these exist and how to use them, quick google indicates 'applications that are written with hybrid CPUs in mind may even spawn threads that are assigned to both kinds of cores depending on their demands' seems to suggest its all application based. Gaming reddits seem to suggest turning E off increase game performance. Now I've got to spend hours researching this.

10GBe via SFP even, small form factor, easily put in 64GB or now 96GB. Perfect little ESXi box with a few startup switches to handle the e cores.

No need to act like you know about Processor generarion if you don't. H series i7 and i9 are exactly same with just a slightly higher single clock Boost and they perform exactly the same under same power envelop. On top of that, you can always power limit it using common tools like XTU.
And what makes you think that 13th gen i7 will perform better? I hpe you know the simple fact that 13th Gen U, P and H series processors are exactly same as their 12th gen counterparts with minor clock speed boost, manufacturerd in same fabrication process.
