I remember when Nakamichi was a very high end audio brand. Like if you said you had a Nakamichi, it was like saying you drove a Porsche is better.

It's kinda sad that these great companies sold their names to Chinese companies that can't even come close in quality.

Edit: I take that back. Yes, it's a low end audio company now. It's owned by the same company as Akai and Sansui. But they are at least trying to be innovative and create some higher end products. This isn't just a Chinese rebrand, even though it is a Chinese company now.

They used to be the high-end audio option for Lexus vehicles before Mark Levinson.

I don't understand their strategy. They make everything from the best soundbars to junk Bluetooth speakers and this thing. I wish they would value the brand more and focus on the upper tiers of the home audio market since it's tough to know the days if you're buying junk or something that merits a premium brand name.

Like so many other audio/electronics names Nakamichi was essentially sold off as a name in 1998. This isn't your dads Nak as it were

Aim for an entry level model from a more established/reputable brand like Pioneer.

Look at the DEH-S1200UB for example - it takes a USB thumb drive and plays MP3 and WMA formats.

It's a name I haven't heard in a long time. I still have some Nakamichi and other old brochures and catalogs laying around here somewhere from back in the 90's.
