I'm looking for a serviceable gaming laptop with a larger screen and 10 key which not too many deals seem to show up for. I am a physician and write a lot of notes on laptop and the one work gave me is too small to be efficient and typing ergonomics are poor. I'd also like to be able to play BG3, maybe some future games. I stopped being able to keep up with hardware advances when med school took over my brain a decade ago and got away from gaming completely for a while. Could anyone with more expertise weigh in on whether this would be a good fit/deal for me?

This looks pretty gamer-y for a physician… maybe a Lenovo legion would be a good fit?

Seems like a pretty good specs for the price. Only thing I'm wary of is that this is a "laptop" in name only. At 18" and almost 8 lbs.. its effectively more like an "all in one desktop" vs. a laptop. I.E. you're not going to want to move it around much, even within the house.
140w 4060 is nice, as is the 4:3 screen ratio. If you want a screen for productivity, 4:3 is SO nice to have, and is EXTREMELY rare nowadays. It'll work fine for gaming too.
Would be nice if it was higher resolution being that at 18" (insanely big for a laptop), but realistically even at that screen size there's a good chance you're going to use resoluton scaling (ex 125%) and the actual real estate will remain the same albeit slightly sharper with slightly denser DPI.
FHD will actually help you out during gaming since higher dpi at 18" will barely be noticable visually but FHD will net you a considerable amount more FPS in more demanding titles.
Overall, for a mix of productivity and gaming I think this is an excellent laptop for sub 1k. Desktop replacement laptops like this typically are very easy to access the internals.

This is not a 4:3 display, but a 16:10. The two display ratios are world's apart and no gaming laptop would ever have a 4:3 display; that is for productivity.

Are you a doctor from wish.com. just go get a top-of-the-line laptop for $2,000

Didn't even know they made 18" laptop displays. This is the first one I've seen. Taking a chance but oh well, in for one. Two year warranty is nice. Think I just bought the last one that's available, for now at least. Thanks for the find, OP.

I got this for kids over xmas when it was $1000. no regrets. Fits needs for both school and gaming. My only very minor comment is the keyboard placement seems alittle more spaced further towards the screen than usual. It kinda makes sense due to the size of the screen.
