That's bad? I buy beans from Costco usually 5+ lbs at a time... No roast date but bags will sit in my basement for months till the last of it is used.

Not terrible but defeats the purpose of getting beans from a higher end roaster like Intelligentsia that puts a roast on date instead of the typical expiration date on the package. There's a lot of different opinions but I'd say you want to have these within 2-3 weeks of the roast on date for optimum flavor.

That's not as bad I was expecting. 2 months I feel like is about average with what you might see on grocery store shelves.

If you want peak freshness, order directly from the roaster. Otherwise, I'm not sure what you were expecting, given that this was probably a warehouse inventory clearance sale.
