ETA: Subject references remote not required and implies an easy unlock process. It was in January when I first took advantage of this promo. However, as of mid-March, the Moto servers many of the unlock code sellers have been using, have gone off-line - with no clear indication as to if/when they will be back up. So proceed with caution.
----------------
On-line, the promo is for $399, but in-store promo is $199 with port-in. My store required that I add insurance ($8/mo) and they required the $40 plan (vs. the $25 cheapest plan). As soon as I left the store, I called 611 and they removed the insurance (refunded the $8 as credit to next month) and said I could downgrade to the $25/mo plan in about 3-4 weeks (it was too recently activated to be changed).
I was able to source an eBay supplier of unlock codes, and despite many having hit a wall in this regard on the MEP 2022, the 2023 is was unlocked with a code I received in <5 min.
Downside: Boost stores do not allow buyers remorse returns. You buy it, it's yours. And short of a defective product, they will not accept returns. But to get a $600+ phone for $199, it was worth the gamble - and it paid off.
Call your closest store(s) and ask if they still have inventory of the MEP 2023. If they do, confirm that they're still honoring the $199 promo that started in May 2023. Each store I called said they would honor the promo, but only one store had any stock.

Are each of those fixed with the 2023? What other things do you love about the 2023 that the 2022 didn't have? It seems like the specs are largely similar with small bumps to the processor that one would expect for a newer phone.

As to your DAC question, I really can't tell you. It did come with a 68w charger that was really quick to get me full. I have not tried wireless charging so I cannot speak to that either.
Software releases I don't imagine will be any better than any of their other lines, but the older I get, the less that seems to be on my list of priorities (maybe it should be?).

I'll PM the unlock seller as I recall others saying that posting links is a bad idea....

"starting at just $199.99 when they switch their wireless service [2].
[2] Req. eligible port & activation on eligible plans."
Unfortunately I can't port in my number.
BTW, I went to a couple different Boost stores yesterday that showed on the door (and on Google) that they were open, but they were closed. And a few others showed closed on Google. Others didn't answer the phone so I don't know if they were or not. Even if I was interested in service with Boost, I certainly wouldn't be after that.

Now the question is whether they'll try to claw back the price difference between promo and retail. Gonna have to think this one through

Ok, so given your story, I've contacted my cc issuer. Unfortunately, they didn't have virtual CC's and I gave Boost my primary Visa. The issuer has cancelled my card, issued a new one, and removed me from the auto-share list - so that all merchants will have to request my new new number from me - and won't automatically be given the new number. In essence, Boost will be cut off from being able to charge my card.
Tomorrow, when the Visible sim arrives, I will initiate the port-out process with Boost. I'm sure they'll warn me about the $600 charge, at which point I'll tell them to try their best to get it
As with anything, there is no free lunch...

Interestingly this c/p is fromthe T's & C's on their page: [boostmobile.com]
If you get a Device from Boost Mobile or a Boost Mobile authorized retailer without paying full price (MSRP) for the Device (whether you get your Device for a special promotional price or you enter into an agreement to pay for your Device in installments), you agree to: (1) activate and use your Device on the Boost Mobile network within 30 days of receipt of your Device; (2) maintain your account in good standing (i.e., continue to meet all your financial and contractual obligations to us); and (3) not resell, trade in, or export your Device to a third-party, including, without limitation, participating in or profiting from the resale, trade in, or export of your Device to a third party until you have met all of your financial and other contractual obligations to us. If you violate the terms of any of (1), (2) or (3) above, we reserve the right to take any action we deem necessary, including, without limitation, charging you (e.g., via your credit card or other payment method that we have on file for you) for the difference between the Device's full price and the price you paid for it (including any applicable taxes), and seeking recovery of related damages. If you have a separate agreement with Boost to acquire, purchase, or lease a Device, any restrictions on resale in that agreement will also apply, so please refer to the terms of any such agreement to understand your rights to resell your Device. Any tampering with, reprogramming, reflashing, or unlocking of this Device without Boost Mobile's permission violates Boost Mobile's and third parties' rights under state and federal laws and may subject you to civil or criminal liability.
I read NOTHING about a minimum duration for "maintain(ing) your account in good standing". Presumably, if I've paid for the first month of service, within 30 days of buying the phone, I'm good.
