Normal price is $50. I purchased it a year ago on sale at Best Buy for $25. I have not been tracking the price since then though, so I have no idea if that was a one time thing. If you need a second dock, just buy it.

this thing has great reviews on BB's site apparently. But amongst those there are a lot of recent comments (within the last year) on folks having their Switch get bricked. I'm still v hesitant on a third party dock for that reason...

Thank you. That's so disappointing to hear the actual consequence. Idk that issue still persists. I remember back in 2018-19 that it happened for other brand of the same product. Geez.

I don't think switch consoles are getting bricked by third party docks any more. It was an issue when the console was new. Nintendo used a non-standard USB-C implementation for video out which caused the issue. By now the switch is an old product and any implementation issues have long been ironed out.

In terms of this deal, it's not really a deal. There are many cheaper third party docks on Amazon with thousands of reviews. Yes, many of them are generic no-brand docks, but like I said dock implementation is generally well understood now. As long as you stick to something with an extensive number of reviews, you'll be fine. My wife mistakenly threw out our original dock for the switch OLED. I've been using a generic third-party dock for years it's worked just fine.

I recommend the Jumpgate dock, it's quite good for the price. I have been using it for a year with the Nintendo oem power supply without any issues.
