I have this one in black.
Someone asked how's it compared to Gretsch? It'a a preference choice. You need to go audition both and pick what's best for your fit.

In that case, they are not comparable. You can play most any style of music with either guitar. However, the single coils in the Strat sound nothing like the humbuckers in the Epi LP in the OP, even if the latter are coil split. The bridge humbucker on the HSS Strat is still pretty quacky (like a bridge single coil in the traditional SSS Strat). You can add distortion and overdrive to that Strat humbucker, but the duck will still peek through a little. The Epi LP pickups have much greater "grunt" and mid-frequency punch, at the expense of some of the high frequencies preserved by the Strat pickups.
The Strat weighs less. The Strat has a glossy neck versus the matte neck of the guitar in the OP. There's a difference in scale length (25.5" Strat vs 24.75") and fretboard radius too (9.5" Strat vs 12").
So, they're kind of comparable in their quality level and intended market, but different guitars.
I played both and bought a Gretsch. Have been playing it on stage for over a year and love it.
Most of Epiphone's electrics seem to be Chinese at present.
