The WiiM Pro Plus is 15% off on Amazon as a Lightning Deal right now. I love my WiiM Mini, but its biggest downside is that it doesn't have Chromecast Audio support. The WiiM Pro and Pro Plus do support it so I went in on one.

I didn't vote up or down- but I don't understand this devices appeal compared to say an Apple TV 4K (which it seems to mimic) that is actually less? I see the older style jacks on the back, is that it?

This is a spectacular device for what it is: a multi platform music streamer, ADC, and DAC for situations where you need that. Especially if you pay for more than one music service for streaming and want to hear the details in an audiophile system that can reveal them. Free tier music services will not connect through direct connections because those are typically paid features (Tidal, Spotify, etc.).

It's limited if you want to use it with an AVR because it does not connect through HDMI (ARC/eARC), so it won't turn on your receiver and set the correct input when turning it on. I only say that because I see a lot of people with AVRs buying these that are used to that functionality with their other sources. You might also have direct connections with popular streaming services already with an AVR, so it might not be a necessary device in that situation.

I would like to add: If you were needing something like this but with HDMI eARC, then consider going for the WiiM Amp for $299.99.
