Strongly recommend against the Nexts. They're widely reviled as poorly-made and depressingly prone to leaking and other unpleasantness.

I recommend staying away from Vertuo... as a fellow slickdealer, it's good to know that Nespresso is the only provider of these pods... no off-brand. So you're stuck buying their - while good - expensive pods. The only alternative are Starbucks branded, but that is simply branding and still Nespre$$o.

Vertuo capsules are most expensive- from 80c to a $1. You get cheap machine but have to buy expensive coffee. I would recommend machines that use classic nespresso capsules.

I have the white and black versions of the vert plus. The black one is perfect...smooth and quiet. My white one vibrates like a bad tire on the highway...but it still makes great coffee.
Sounds like my last two girlfriends.

Just a head's up if you're ever traveling to the EU or the UK — stock up on nespresso pods when you're there! The price is significantly cheaper for pods across Europe! For example, you can get 32 Starbucks Nespresso on Amazon in the US for $44 or just 8 of them from Walmart for $11, while at a Tesco in the UK, you can get 36 Starbucks Nespresso pods for £10! The US really gouges you on nespresso pods and I'm not entirely sure why. They're just incredibly affordable and economical in Europe, so if you go, stock up!!

Good deal.

Anyone have any experience with refurb Nespresso machines?
Keep in mind that there are 3 different makers of these machines: Nespresso, DeLonghi, and Beville.

The only alternative to the Vertuo is reusing their pods with aftermarket re-sealers/caps. Starbucks don't even make Vertuo pods, no one else does but Nespresso. Until their patent expires, other companies can't make the pods with their own bar codes used for brewing.

lol ... how does the US have anything to do with gouging the price? It's Nespresso, they're the ones wanting to charge US customers more.

I have this, going on 2 years now and its awesome. The one thing I hate about it is there are no 3rd party or generic pods so they are EXPENSIVE! My solution is to use a refill kit I purchased on amazon and that works great. coffee is fresher and goes from $1.25 cup to $0.15 cup.

I'd recommend a pour-over cone and a brick of Cafe Bustelo.

That's the way $0.15 a cup and feed the compost instead of the landfill.

Don't do it. Machine leaks and is very finicky. The pods are ridiculously expensive. Thankfully I bought my machine at Costco and was able to return it after a year of frustration. Bought a Lavazza Classy Plus when it was on sale. Best machine I've ever owned. Makes great coffee, espresso, lattes and cappuccinos. And the pods are a reasonable price.

Nice deal. Is this the best deal nowdays? My DeLonghi Vertuo Plus finally died, motor smells like it burned out. Got a brand new one on Amazon Black Friday 5 years ago for $75. Used it at least once a day, every day for 5 years. Great ROI. Guess I should have bought two machines for myself, although I did buy one for others for Xmas.

I got my VirtuoPlus Breville machine in like new condition at my local thrift store for $15. So, definitely no complain in term of initial cost of investment for the machine.

My wife and I were shocked to see the price of the capsules, considering we're regular user of K-Cups (generic one at that). However, in the spirit of trying it out and wanting to see whether or not the machine is actually working correctly, I decided to go to Walmart to see what they've to offer in-store.

To my surprise, literally there's only 3 boxes offered for sale and they're all Starbucks, no other pods, including OG pods are on sale there. I bought 1 box of 8 capsules for $10 and a change, which is the most expensive I've paid for coffee in a pod.

The machine ended up working perfectly fine and it's definitely an upgrade in term of quality from the drip coffee made by the K-Cup machine. I think I'm just gonna use the machine during weekend at home.

My wife, however, decided to do more research and ended up buying this refill kit for Vertuo capsules in Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B088FK1KL4). You can re-use your spent capsule by removing the foil, washing it, refill it with fine grind coffee and re-sealing with the new foil. We just received it yesterday and will be trying it out. Cool

Nice, will look into that. Wish there were some alternatives to these pods but it is what it is. Thankfully I don't drink coffee

I just had to replace the Virtuo Next that I've had for a little over a year. It was great and made excellent coffee/espresso. I turned it on one day and got nothing but a dim red light. After half an hour on the phone with Nespresso, they offered to give me a discount on a replacement, or I could pay a reduced price for repair. I found a "facelifted" version (glossy and ribbed instead of matte and smooth) for sale on Amazon and bought it, just because my wife wanted another. I absolutely wouldn't recommend anyone buy one though.
