Why? What are you putting on that desk? Are you worried about weight? They come with plates for support and of you REALLY wanted to beef it up you could add 1 piece of wood to the bottom which would make it much more stable.

Why are people freaking out about a desktop having 2 pieces?

Source: I just built one of these yesterday. It's in my office with 3 monitors on top of it.

I could have purchased one with a nice slab on top for 10x the price but I'm not stupid.
