I got the offer on my portfolio page, it says free but when I click thru, it's only 20% off
Yeah, apparently it's not working properly. I ran into the same problem.

Weird, still showing only 20%. Will have to contact my advisor. Millions in multiple accounts and this is my treatment. Ridonkulous.
Calm down, I'm sure that they will fix it. You can thank the folks in the earlier (and now deleted) thread who figured out how to circumvent the system and allow people who did not qualify for the free copy to get it for the delay. It was working fine originally.

Ya I contacted them and they said their tech team is working on it. Try back next week.

If you need to file two states, use the online version and both will be free. If you use the download version you'll pay for the second state download and both state e-files.

Go through to the File section after adding both states and check out. That way you lock in the price.
In the past the way it worked was if you needed 2 states for one federal return, you would have to pay for the second state download. However, if you installed turbotax on one computer and one state, that was free. If you installed turbotax on a second computer with a different state (one state), that also was free since it was only one state download. You could use the same serial number on both. Now, does anyone know if that still works because now you need to log in to your turbotax account to activate both installs and I do not know if they keep track of the number of state downloads now.

FTC Orders Intuit to Stop Misleading TurboTax Ads [bleepingcomputer.com]

Not a fan of Intuit, but free is great! Smilie
Yeah, it's great when you are 90% done filing and then they hit with the "Sorry, you taxes are more complicated then we thought, so this is going to cost you". They are not the only ones pulling that shit, just the biggest.

To anyone, what's the going rate for the so called "Live Version" of TurboTax for a complicated tax return.
In my case, simply 70+yrs old with stocks and dividends.

In my area of California it's been $175 for each of the last two years to file a hard copy with an independent tax preparer.

Not sure about your question. If you are trying to prepare a return with mainly stocks and dividends, then get the $5 option (if available) and just install it on your computer. Your stocks and dividends probably can be downloaded directly from Brokerage houses. 5 minute process each. That should take care of your schedules B, C & D.

If you have k-1 from MLPs, they have to be dealt with on case by case. But still not that difficult.

This did the trick, got both options. Free Online or the $5 Download. Was able to activate successfully. Thanks!

It worked for me. My account met the minimums. A lot of trades and decent size. I don't use their broker or financial advisor, so that isn't a req. I'm one of the people that had the issue where it only said I was entitled to the 20% discount previously.

Also I can confirm it's tied to my TurboTax account and I can download the returns for my old keys, going back years.

Like that other guy said one of those code / link buyers tried to hack this or whatever so Fidelity / TurboTax took it down for a couple months.

Don't sell your code or link or whatever for a stupid Amazon $5 gift card, it will mess it up for everyone (that's why it wasn't working), and will mess up your TurboTax account history, either they or you will be able to download each other's return. messing with my tax info is totally not worth $5 amazon GC, if you're that crazy just pirate it so you can save even more money and get your SSN hacked. Since the information got wiped out when the other thread was deleted due to fraudulent activity being discussed, I wanted to point out that when you purchase a download license, the code get stored into your TT account and starting his year, all TT installs using a specific code have to be in the same TT login. If you intend to give away any of your purchased codes, I'm pretty sure that whoever uses it will need to log into that TT account, even if you haven't installed it anywhere yet. Mint and other Intuit products use the same login, so you may want to reconsider giving people access to that.
I purchased code on sd last year, download\desktop version. Am I at risk?if I want to purchase a code and use download\desktop version on a new desktop (not importing 2022), am I at risk ?
thanks
