I have preimer verison from my friend. But when I tried to activate it, always showed that this key had been used by another account. My friend did not want to share his account information with me because he was not sure if I would see his tax information once I used his account. In this case, can I still activate the Turbotax?

the license is linked to the first intuit account that activated it. there's no way to activate it again without that account.
I have fresh license to trade that has not been activated.

It's not like last year anymore in general. The turbo tax now is tied to the email account that you have to register in order to do your taxes. I can't give my copy to a friend or relative like previously.

it is just another attempt from intuit trying to make more money out of us.
you can still install and activate turbotax on 5 devices, but only with the original intuit account.
all tax info is still saved in your local computer and won't be shared with anyone else, even if they used the same license.
