This vs JS22 … which one is higher quality?

I went to guitar center and some of the Jackson guitars were just embarrassing how bad they were finished. Rough wood, frets, loose pickups and jacks..

Not sure the quality between 22, 24, and 32 are massively different. Just bridges and finishes really, as the pickups/hardware/neck profile should all be the same.

From someone that knows absolutely nothing about guitars and plan to learn using Rocksmith, is this a good guitar?

Compared to Epiphone Les Paul Special II? Sorry if this isn't an apple's to apple's comparison.

I just started playing myself. For the short money ya can't beat them. I have 3 Jackson's and love them. Get the adorama card and save 5%. check Amazon for Leo Jaymze guitars. $129 and really nice guitars

My son started learning on a Jackson guitar. This is a great guitar that should last for years. And btw, he learned using Roclsmith and is playing the solo from Metallica's song One now. He's gotten that good! I'm tempted to get this one for myself.
edit- shows to be on backorder till March

Check guitar center to see if they sell it and have them match price

That's awesome (your son not the backorder)!

Keeping the price in mind be ready to invest time into fret polishing, leveling and truss, tremolo setup. I buy these to replace them with better tuners, pickups and pots. They are worth the time spent to get to a much much higher quality guitar value. Used to do the same with Ibanez but the lower end Ibanez body is just crap to work with.

Thanks! Ordered one. At this price even if it sits around it'll look good. This is the 3rd guitar I'll be bad at playing!

Probably similar quality overall. I think one of the biggest differences is the scale length, the Epiphone is a 24.75" versus the 25.5" on this. That might make the Epiphone a little easier to play on for a beginner, especially if you have smaller hands (it does have other differences, but probably not as relevant for your purposes). But ultimately I'd probably recommend whichever one you like the looks of more, since that could help motivate you to pick up and play more.

It looks like they still have the JS22 in blue with the darker fretboard and white neck inlays at $139 as well, if that's more appealing. I ordered one of those, it arrived yesterday, and I like it. I might upgrade the tuners, haven't decided for sure yet, but out of the box I'm pretty satisfied.

The Jackson will be able to have lower action and that's better of course. It's also ergonomically better. there's no reason not to get the Jackson either one could have kind of bad quality control sample.
