Are these TV's "refurbished" like the Sony headphones are (essentially as good as Open box) ? Had great experience with XM4's from their ebay store.

Tempting, but the "refurbished" Sony earbuds I received from them were drenched in earwax. They refunded with no hassle but I wonder how much they are actually refurbishing anything.

Sony Refurbished seems like they make sure its mechanically operable, then add new packing material to make it look like new, but full of cosmetic blemishes

This particular listing says refurbished by 3rd party, and i noticed it says nothing about a manufacturer warranty. I got this exact TV, but the costco version XR65A80CJ from buydig and it was manufacturer refurb, with the manufacturer warranty. The network port wasn't connecting so i called Sony, they sent a technician out from a nearby TV repair shop they had a contract with, he brought a spare motherboard, swapped it out for me. No charge at all. totally amazing support and experience. didn't have to leave my living room. next day problem fixed. I paid 1400 and it was maybe 2 years ago ish, so prices were different, but it's worth knowing what you're getting into here. i don't think this is sony refurbed or it would specifically say and a MFG warranty would be stated.
