This seems like an excellent deal. Any reason not to pull the trigger besides no RAM upgrade? I also have 2 x $40 AMEX offer that I will use towards it.

I'm currently working with a Dell Latitude 7400 2-in-1 that I picked up from Dell Refurbished for around $250 or so. That 2020 system has an 8th generation i7, 16GB RAM, 512G hard drive, and 14" screen.

In comparison, this deal is for a new system, the equivalent of a 12th generation i5 or an 11th generation i7, 8GB RAM, 512GB hard drive, and 16" screen for a little less than twice the price.

My system has Windows 10 Pro, upgradable to Windows 11 Pro. This system is Windows 11 Home.

It sounds like a pretty good deal to me. Much better processor, better graphics and screen, not that much more expensive. I don't need it, but I'm tempted (SD effect.)

The catch is that the RAM is soldered. You better decide correctly on your first try if that amount of memory is sufficient.

No, the reason they solder it is to cut costs for them. Also, it boosts the performance for users because it shortens the path going from RAM to CPU to RAM.

Anyone have experience with AMD processors in general compared to Intel?

I would imagine they're fully compatible with all the software and WIndows but wondering if anyone has run into issues.

Pulled the trigger. This seems like a higher end build on a budget laptop price. I will be using it mostly to stream movies and shows so hopefully 8GB RAM won't hold me back. AMEX gave me $80 (2 x $40).

No numpad, and 8GB kills it for me. I had an offer from Lenovo on the Flex 5 with the 7730u, 16GB, 1TB, and active pen for $597, I should have jumped on it but the deal was gone the next day.

There are no compatibility issues with AMD CPUs with the same instruction set. Everything will run on that CPU just like on any Intel CPU.

It is an OK deal. 8GB is a bit lacking but to be honest most users don't really need 8GB+. Nowadays SSD is so fast memory swapping is very less noticable. I might get 1 just to burn the $150 promo gift card I have.
