Cheapest is to get one of their $15 a month plans. There are two $15 a month plans, one has unlimited talk and text, the other one has 500 min, 500 texts, and 500mb of data.

Also note that 99% of all "reconditioned" phones (whether iPhone or Android) sold by Tracfone are already unlocked or qualify for unlocking without any need to activate with a plan or wait 60 days. So the first thing to do when you get a "reconditioned" phone from them is to dial #83865625# that will tell you the unlock status. If it offers for you to enter a code, enter the phone's IMEI on Tfunlockingpolicy website, chances are very high it already qualifies for unlocking without the need to buy any plans. If on the second page you get an "error" from the website, just call Tracfone's unlocking department at 1-888-442-5102. If they don't cooperate, just file an FCC complaint and they will do you right in no time as they fear the regulator.
199 + sales tax + 35
It's an OK deal, but not a great one. With battery capacity at 90%, the phone must have been used for at least a year and it wasn't reconditioned by Apple. I've purchased a couple of reconditioned iPhone's (11 and Xr) from Tracfone before (mostly with reward points). All appeared to be customer returns with little usage. I was hoping these 12's were also customer returns, but it doesn't seem to be the case.

Yesterday ST lowered brand new 12 and 12 mini by $100 but the price went back today. I think that was a better deal since it would come with Apple Care and you didn't have to buy a plan. You could activate it on Tracfone with $0~$10 and have it unlocked after 60 days.

Are you sure? Safelink doesn't allow SIM swapping last I knew
Yes im positive i been using it all day. i popped the sim in immediately and it went to 5g. i put the other sim in an unlocked phone which will have service for the 30 days which is kinda useless to me. i had qlink forever but my phone was stolen when i got mugged, so been waiting on a deal like this. Switched to safelink a month ago and got a new android and gave the android to my friend cause her phone was broke and put the sim in an unlocked iphone.and been using that until today when i got this 12. the phone isn't unlocked, just works cause i believe its all tracfone stuff.

I bought it as second phone for international travel, so super happy with this deal!!

I know it's expired but pretty cool I was able to pop in a safelink wireless sim card immediately and it worked. That's a free government plan if ya wondering.
Use that discount against Internet provider, much higher value. You can swap your safelink with prepaid as an alternative.

Confirmed, live again. $252 out the door. Aside from the wait this is better than haggling in OfferUp and paying $200-250 for a phone that has lesser battery state. Thanks OP.

Snagged 2 for $517.70. When do you put in referral code for free 2nd month service? Anyone have one they want to share ?

New iPhone 12s are also reduced to $299 again and don't require plan purchase (although they would be locked if not activated). Pondering if I made the right decision to get the reconditioned one…

Just received mine, and there are two major dents on the corners and a cut on the side. It seems to be a matter of luck with these shipments. I'm looking to return it but can't find the procedure for doing so. I called Straight Talk customer service and experienced some of the worst support ever. The representative kept repeating, "I am waiting for the system to give me a response," then went on mute. It felt like a tactic to pass the time without actually working. After wasting 30 minutes with two different representatives, I decided to give up.

Does anyone have experience returning a phone? Please share your insights, thanks.

Got mine yesterday. Arrived fully discharged in a banged up small cardboard box, wrapped in bubble wrap, with USB-C to lightning cable and a small piece of paper with IMEI and SIM numbers. Cosmetically looks like new, or very close. Battery health at 100%. Activated with no problems on Straight Talk website. Has Apple warranty until May 2, 2024.

nah that only saves me $35 off my internet i'd rather have the completely unlimited free phone service. It's a shame you cant get both judging that my internet is $75 which is insane.Spectrum has gone up $25 a deal too cause i was on a 2 year special ha. It's gonna be $100 a month next month with no alternative in sight ha.

Moving soon hopefully can get one of those T-Mobile or Verizon 5G mobile boxes for $50 or less.

Just thought was cool this phone even though it's not unlocked is able to work with my free plan. I been using a half broken Iphone 7 so it was perfect.

Cancel the service with post date cancellation and get a new deal/contract under different name for the same date of your prior account cancellation.

I get tired of unwanted spam calls thus got rid of safelink and rather am now on prepaid annual plan instead through RedPocket.

A little late and I know it's expired but so y'all know if these phones can be used in Mexico? I understand sometimes they're locked to the carrier for a couple of months but has anybody bought them and taken them straight to Mexico to be used over there? I know there's a way to unlock it (jailbreak it) or whatever they call it but I'm just wondering if anybody has done it when taking it to Mexico

Starting to wonder if this will ship, ordered in the 6th when it came back in stock and it's still "pending remote fulfillment." I had the same thing happen in the recent SE deal and eventually they refunded my money although they never did notify me it was canceled.
