Cheapest is to get one of their $15 a month plans. There are two $15 a month plans, one has unlimited talk and text, the other one has 500 min, 500 texts, and 500mb of data.

Also note that 99% of all "reconditioned" phones (whether iPhone or Android) sold by Tracfone are already unlocked or qualify for unlocking without any need to activate with a plan or wait 60 days. So the first thing to do when you get a "reconditioned" phone from them is to dial #83865625# that will tell you the unlock status. If it offers for you to enter a code, enter the phone's IMEI on Tfunlockingpolicy website, chances are very high it already qualifies for unlocking without the need to buy any plans. If on the second page you get an "error" from the website, just call Tracfone's unlocking department at 1-888-442-5102. If they don't cooperate, just file an FCC complaint and they will do you right in no time as they fear the regulator.
199 + sales tax + 35
It's an OK deal, but not a great one. With battery capacity at 90%, the phone must have been used for at least a year and it wasn't reconditioned by Apple. I've purchased a couple of reconditioned iPhone's (11 and Xr) from Tracfone before (mostly with reward points). All appeared to be customer returns with little usage. I was hoping these 12's were also customer returns, but it doesn't seem to be the case.

Yesterday ST lowered brand new 12 and 12 mini by $100 but the price went back today. I think that was a better deal since it would come with Apple Care and you didn't have to buy a plan. You could activate it on Tracfone with $0~$10 and have it unlocked after 60 days.

Is that capital one shopping? I see up to $15 off orders over $300, and 6% off "everything else". No explanation of what the exceptions might be though.
EDIT: I also see it on capitaloneoffers: $17 back or 7%
The 12.5% was Capital One shopping. That offer expired for me on 2/11. The $17 is still listed under offers in my account.

I got a good number. If I port out at 30 days, will the phone still unlock at 60 days?

Interestingly I placed another order on the 11th and it promptly shipped on the 12th and is arriving today. My original order in the 6th is still pending remote fulfillment. Their customer service said they can't cancel it and can only put a note in the file asking for it to be expedited. I'm going to give it a few more days and then dispute the charge on my credit card.

On a sidenote, Capital One currently has a cash back offer for straighttalk. I actually had 2 offers, one for 7% cash back up to $17 off a phone and another for 12.5% cash back up to $30. YMMV but sweetens the deal (if you can get them to actually ship).

Update: got the order from the 11th today (the 14th). Other than a very light scratch near the power button looks pristine with 100% battery.
Did you got any email at least confirming your order of the 6th?

Just received mine, and there are two major dents on the corners and a cut on the side. It seems to be a matter of luck with these shipments. I'm looking to return it but can't find the procedure for doing so. I called Straight Talk customer service and experienced some of the worst support ever. The representative kept repeating, "I am waiting for the system to give me a response," then went on mute. It felt like a tactic to pass the time without actually working. After wasting 30 minutes with two different representatives, I decided to give up.

Does anyone have experience returning a phone? Please share your insights, thanks.
Hi,

My phone seems to have a small crack on the top right and 4 scratches on the 4 corners(likely a case that left a scratch). I have been talking to Straight Talk since last Saturday who even gave me a ticket number. Sadly, they have not yet provided me a RMA yet. Multiple calls to them have resulted in them asking the same questions and it appears they haven't created a serious ticket. Also, the rep was saying I need to ship the phone first and they will issue a refund by check in about 30 days. All this looks very dicey to me. I haven't even activated the plan yet.

I plan to tap into my PayPal protection(I bought the phone using Paypal) to initiate/complete the return process.

Has anyone had a similar experience in this deal and other deals before with Straight Talk?

Thanks

Yes, I did get an order confirmation and it finally shipped today. Not sure why it took so long.

My order from the 6th still has not shipped either. I got a practically new iPhone 12 on my carrier on OfferUp for $200. Still under warranty and 100% battery. I called straight talk to cancel and they said they could not even though the order from the 6th still shows as pending. My credit card was charged on the 7th. They said I should dispute the charge and/or refuse the package if and when it ships. These phones are a good deal but I think I'll stick to OfferUp in the future. Straight talks service is clearly not their strong point.

UPDATE. Mine finally shipped 10 days after order.

I received the new iPhone for $299. I followed the directions from the Straight Talk Pixel 6a deal and rebranded it to Tracfone on the $15 plan. It is showing it will be unlocked on 4/11/2024.

Edit: So new = $299 + sales tax + $15

Boost has Iphone 12 New $200+$150 1 year Unlimited Talk/Text/Data plan for presidents day so $35 more you could of got 1 year unlimited

So, Boost only uses AT&T or T-Mobile. No Verizon network. That is a deal breaker for many.

I'm a bit confused to as why I activated 3 weeks after receiving it and the unlock date started on the activation date not the order date. I thought people mentioned that the unlock date was 60 days after purchas.
