Good deal again on gray 7 Qt. I assume zwilling has an overstock on gray and that explains the sale
I would assume so considering how long the sale has been going on for this size and color. It's likely shipping from the Zwilling warehouse in Garland, Texas. My last 2 Staub orders from Wayfair came from there and shipping has been rather slow lately.
I've had my Staub 5.5 quart Dutch oven for well over a decade now. I use it all the time. Well worth the investment.
I'm tempted to get the 7 Qt for larger roasts and whole roast chicken. But I kinda wanted my next Dutch oven to be a Le Creuset. So I can compare the two, and I like the idea of the lighter enamel on the Le Creuset for better visibility when browning.
Don't think I'll ever find a 7 Qt Le Creuset at this price, though….

The idea of better visibility for browning is silly. You see browning on the food. You can't see under the food.

I think it's referring to seeing fond, the dark bits of remaining food that are stuck to the pot which, when released, adds flavor. You can't see them that well in a Staub black interior compared to a lighter color such as a LC pot. The dark interior was one of the reasons America's Test Kitchen doesn't recommend Staub.

You are right about America's test kitchen. They always recommend Le creuset.
But it's funny that Le creuset is now moving to, and they've done this several years ago, The black interior on their skillets.
