The memory is soldered on the motherboard so you cannot upgrade the memory. But 16g is decent for this laptop

For everyday use? No it's fine.

My wife is still using her ryzen 5 3500u laptop (with 16gb ram) which is maybe 20% slower. It performs fine in everyday tasks.

The ryzen 5 3500u Passmark score is 6970 and the 7520u is 9456, more like 35% lol

Seems like a great deal. The processor is kind of weak and may limit this laptop's longevity. But for this price, you can't expect much.

Here's a youtube video that talks about upgrading it .. I'm guessing 16 GB should be enough for most people for the intended use (definitely not for gaming I imagine Smilie .. average home user using it for the internet, office applications like word processing, viewing pdfs that kind of thing) .. people might want more than the 512 GB hard drive though depending on how much stuff you're going to be storing on the hard drive.

If the video is correct apparently the ram is all soldered onto the motherboard meaning you're stuck with 16 GB period but as mentioned by someone else for the price you really can't complain.. about 3 minutes and 30 seconds into the video the youtuber starts talking about the replacement of the hard drive

Here's an article that also talks about upgrading the hard drive and that seems to confirm ram is soldered on and not upgradeable .. the article below mentions "For storage, you get one M.2 PCIe x4 slot, limited to Gen 3 " but the youtuber above mentions gen 4 ssd drives should be backwards compatible with gen 4 m2 drives

Bit of a head scratcher as far as the maximum supported hard drive size for the laptop however. In the youtube video above the youtuber appears to be inserting this hard drive though the capacity (1 TB? 2 TB? ) is unknown

Disappointingly (for me anyways Smilie ) unlike other acer aspire models I didn't see a second hard drive bay slot for say a 2.5 form factor ssd drive .. but again can't argue for the price Smilie

The Dell will have a one year onsite warranty (1-3 days to have fixed) even their refurbished models from them comes with a one year onsite warranty. If I had to guess this Acer will not have a warranty and if it's does, Acer only has a mail in warranty which could take 3 to 6 weeks. FYI, computers now-a-days are not built like they use to be. They're thiner and made a lot cheaper.

This Acer has 2-year warranty cover by Allstate.

I bought this at the Axer refurbished store at Amazon last month. . I've had several BSOD with a drive power error. Thankfully I can return it because of the warranty but now I'm wondering if I should take my chances and buy it again or just go with something else that didn't break on me in the past

I am very very wary of Acer quality now. I have 2 laptops with severe problems in the last year itself. Acer driver support is terrible. One laptop had no drivers to download and one laptop is inexplicably becoming slow for a few days and there is no diagnosis. No it is not windows update, ssd or any other issue that can be pointed at.
